When defeating the Sultan's army he was in overall command of a coalition army and personally led the decisive cavalry charge, which was the largest in history and headed by his famous "Winged Hussars".

This is a tough one, I’m not exactly knowledgeable in ny Polish history... Even with these hints. Yeah, I guess it's one that you either know or you don't. Cool pic though, right? He was the King of Poland & Grand Duke of Lithuania, and the aforementioned battle against the Ottomans took place on 11th September 1683 outside the Gates of Vienna.
