This is a tough one, I’m not exactly knowledgeable in ny Polish history... Even with these hints. Yeah, I guess it's one that you either know or you don't. Cool pic though, right? He was the King of Poland & Grand Duke of Lithuania, and the aforementioned battle against the Ottomans took place on 11th September 1683 outside the Gates of Vienna. John II Sobieski?

I definitely need to take a European history class

John II Sobieski? I definitely need to take a European history class For me, I need to expand my long-term memory storage because I should've remembered his name on the Commanders & Leaders list for the Siege of Vienna.

Close enough, it's John III Sobieski. Well done, your turn.

You may need to ask your dads (or grandads!) Some of the movies he starred in were Destry, The Cimarron Kid, The Quiet American & The Unforgiven. The best and last clue I can give is that his name sounds very similar to that of a very famous American comedian & comedy actor. His namesake is still making movies now but his heyday was the mid 80s to mid 90s.

By the by, curiously his imdb bio shows a different birth year to his wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audie_Murphywww.imdb.com/name/nm0001559/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Here’s an easy one: A general who died at the age of 65. He is known as Emperor Justinian’s favourite general. His famous military battle is the decisive victory at Dara which protected Constantinople from the Sassanid Persians. He also had conquered North Africa and Italy but suffered a disaster in maintaining his Italian troops when he was pulled back in Constantinople leading Justinian to force him into retirement. He died a few months before Justinian’s death himself.
Literally a clue: Eastern Roman Empire
