Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character, but a highly recognised one, in fact. He is one of Britain's most famous characters. When he was last written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, his story was set in 1914, on the starting year of WW1 whereby warfare would evolve into its modern and very bloody form.
