If players can easily go through modern war without machinist on Guderian, I dont understand why his speed running capabilities should be limited since after you have completed the game, thats the only course of action and entertainment to partake in. Besides, if both explosives and machinist benefit the general (you cant really cross-examine them since they both do wonders to two very different aspects), but one is more viable for any part of the game, whether end-game or record-contesting, then I would say go for explosives. If you want to consider daily invasions as a viable spot for machinist, I can assure you that all 12 medal tank invasions can be beaten with minimal losses, you just need a maxed out general (esp rumor) and a full hq inventory.

I am not using machinist for invasions, in fact it is pretty much useless on invasions. If you only want to complete the game, yes, you don't need machinist, true. However, when you finish the scenarios, there are still many challenges waiting for you: conquest 1980 using Cuba, Iraq, Thailand, etc; conquest 1950 using Cuba, Thailand, Greece, or western Europe halting the Soviet invasions, machinist will be very useful. If your conquest takes 40 turns, that means your Guderian heals 15×40= 600hp (that's huge). My understanding about generals' role in the battlefield is [of course] the battlefield is not a playground, you shouldn't treat it as one. There are still many challenges that will force your generals to their limits, so machinist is very important for survivability. If you need fort-destroyers, you can buy Yamashita and add explosives (although I don't recommend it for certain reasons). One more thing, this is nice challenge (I played it a lot). Use Guderian only to complete a mission in the scenario (destination Berlin hard, conquer Europe hard, Nato and WTO missions, etc). I also use conquer Europe solo to test out my panzer generals' capabilities. You can also use another panzer generals' for solo missions to test their worth and capabilities. Have fun! 😄 Btw, I have two WC4 accounts, one for experimental purposes, the other is the real one. Gotta make sure I don't make the same mistakes, so I test everything out on my experimental account, and I have played the conquests a million times. Since I first played this game, I had already obsessed by the generals, I like to collect and try them out. So I guess you can trust my experience and experiment results.

The draw of having explosives on those conquests would be grabbing as many cities as possible first, in order to expand economy and prepare a defensive/offensive front. I have done those conquests to form this point about the benefits of explosives. Again its up to the player's tactics. A more aggressive style would call for explosives more often

I have done those conquests to form this point about the benefits of explosives. Again its up to the player's tactics. A more aggressive style would call for explosives more often I've completed the game too (in the experimental account). I have never gotten any problem with destroying forts and cities. I always use air forces (strategic bomber), missiles, and paratroopers to capture empty cities (it's super effective) while my generals are fighting the large troops and enemy generals. The enemies always end up battle in my territory (because I have captured all empty cities with air force) and destroyed by my generals. If you want to destroy forts quickly you can use my airstrike-paradrop tactics (very effective especially with air force commander) or use Yamashita/Rundstedt/MacArthur on mechanized infantries, while Guderian can take of the terrorist gangsters😄 That's one of my doctrines that I've prooved on my 'a million conquests' journey. Btw, I play this game for the conquests and scenarios are just bonus, but even so, machinist is still the most useful for Guderian in conquests. I've tried many skill combinations for Guderian but eventually, machinist still comes first. It is your choice to customize your Guderian, I am just giving recommendations based on my experiments. Have fun! 😄

In the early part of the game, when you need to expand to seize more cities for more resources for survival, I found explosives to fill this in lately. But I guess we all agree that once resources start rolling in one can just parasnipe anything with ease; whether you have guderian on machinist or him resting in a city in does not matter much

Maybe you wanna make a poll in a separate thread? Which skill will you add for Guderian? a. Explosive b. Machinist c. Carpet Bombing He is 3* in air right? I will answer there. Let see the people said

But carpet bombing will not be the potential skill candidate. The possible candidates are: A. Machinist B. Plain fighting C. Explosives D. Tide of iron E. (Ace forces?)
