Deleted , I see, thought you were more of a WW1 or WW2 buff by looking at your profile picture haha, my readings are really only limited with shakespeare, but im more interested in World War Two(which is my pursued academic are of interest), and since to do well and be open to more job opportunities im also required to be more specialised in the ww2 history of my country(pacific theatre, so you can guess haha), but even though its not as exciting as the european front im ok with it too... I just read whatever that interests me, when i'm not busy with paperwork or with some thesis. Politics , psychology, philosophy, physics and math are my main interests. I'm not that interested in the history part of WW2, more of the military and psychological warfare that occured, and how the chain of events affects us now. What interests you in WW2 that you pursued it in your academe? Also, which country, if you don't mind me asking.

WW2 is definitely a interesting part of history! I have read many book's About it and also a bit of archive material from The German and the Soviet Side about the River of Oder Crossing in spring 1945 Near the location where I live. But my focus has been shift to the Napoleonic Wars at the moment. Maybe because of all these bad Hollywood movies and the terrible depiction of German Soldiers.

Imagine if Hitler wasn't a paranoid antisemite, but was a calculating, rational leader concerned with the rise of Germany by improving the overall capabilities of the German people. I wouldn't mind calling them the master race if that were the case. Combined with those oratory skills, Germany would probably be a superpower by now. Hitler showed how powerful a nation can be if you unite your people in terms of ideals into one and channel it into something. Although in this case it was channeled in a destructive way, leading germany destroyed for the years to come. I guess that's the problem with most nations right now: they don't have a powerful nation consciousness. They either become too xenophobic that they hate all outsiders, or they become too lax and let everyone.

You're a man possessed lol. I wouldn't have grinded that much just to beat the record by 1 turn everytime. Or maybe i will. But considering i never really maxed some of my gens and tech in EW6 makes me doubt i will. Hopefully you would like the new game so i could have the pleasure of competing with you for the conquest records. Yeah, that's how I do this. IMO it's much more fun this way. Regarding new game... not sure, how much time I'll have, most likely my progress will be slow, but sooner or later I'll get to records table.

That means almost all the World fastest conqueror title holders will participate in the new game. I expect the conquest records will be highly unstable, if the game is fun to play that is.

Since it's something new, they probably placed a lot of effort to make it a lot of fun. The difficulty curve is the only problem tho, since if it's too hard, people won't play it. If it's too easy, then it's boring. The success of the initial release will be a large determinant. But if it's great and it would come down to conquest records, best believe i'll make it hard for you to beat those records

The great nations of that time simply disliked each other. Germans hated France for the peace treaty of Versailles. The British hated the Germans for there industrial capabilities. France hated the Germans for the franco-prussian war and ww1. And Poland sadly was just pawn in that game.

Yea, generals and alternative histories are what fuels my passion. Being too open here, but try to guess which country haha, clues: Pacific theatre, british colony during ww2, significant victory for japanese when they occupied us

Despite how brilliant Bismarck was, he was unable to foresee the future consequences of his actions.Poland was just Poland, always getting destroyed because of the unfortunate geographical position. Treaty of Versailles pretty much made it so WW2 would happen.

And Poland sadly was just pawn in that game. yes, that brings into question the insightful topic about historical significance, and the empowerment of an individual to be the cause of certain events. Surely one must also consider the people of a country and not just their leaders, so I agree wholeheartedly with you that there is a visible distinction between a catalyst and a root cause. This can also sometimes be fallacious, and some things were bound to happen even if one does not take leadership and speed up things. Adding to that, Italy was frustrated it had gained so little in the previous war due to their overambition, so Mussolini was indeed eager to make gains again.

But ultimately the germans would eventually stab russia in the back, but at least the latter will have its red army focused on invading the middle east and china against the ROC and the British, and the Germans would have a faster time reaching Moscow. That isnt too ideal either, as a overwhelmingly strong southern push could occur, and imo if this rly happens its up to germany to take moscow asap so that they can stand a chance. This is all alternate history ideas which im interested in, so no offence to any country but i feel its very interesting to consider the many things that might have changed

Most could have been simply won through political intrigue and diplomacy. The best rulers and generals were able to muster both the masculine and feminine inside them: Aggression and Subtlety . Basically those who know when to go to war, when to rely on political games, and when to rely on diplomacy. That's why Julius Caesar and Metternich interests me. Malaysia or Singapore i guess, not really sure, i suck at guessing games lol. I'm more of analyzing past historical figure's military, political and diplomatic blunders. Eisenhower hated commies, and De Gaulle was doing De Gaulle things.

ah yes and everyone hated De Gaulle lol. Malaysia? Really a sweet victory for the Japanese? Seemed like somewhere the Italian army could manage at as the British didnt really place that much priority on the defense of Malaya, and Yamashita saw through this well

Pretty much the whole world was against him, and his ideals of lebensraum and the like made it impossible for any diplomatic exchange. If he was a realist and more of a rational, i can see Germany winning. But based on his psychology, it was only a matter of time for Germany to lose. Also, i'd say the leaders are more important, since tbh, the masses can be considered as one single consciousness, and group consciousness is easily swayed by a strong figure.
