Weakest iap in the game. Comparison wise, he is inferior to Lannes, who only costs 844 medals fully reduced. However, if you do buy him, he will actually seem very strong at the start but will slowly deteriorate. To get a grasp of how mediocre he is, we will compare him other generals. Generals better than Wellesley: Bismarck, Karl, Suvorov, Washington, Bolivar, Masséna, Garibaldi, Moreau, Lannes, Barclay, Grant, Robert You see, even though he is an iap, there are many generals who can do his job, and quite a few who can do his job better than him. Agree. I think the only reason people get him is for the medals. Same reason people buy Desaix. |

Agree. I think the only reason people get him is for the medals. Same reason people buy Desaix. Wellesley is actually a solid supporting general. He has good defense and offensive capabilities too. He can make a huge difference once placed. He can make all the difference when spawned in crimean war. |

He can make all the difference when spawned in crimean war. Definitely. The problem is that as a IAP General, he’s expected to be overpowered. Wellesley is a solid general, but he’s mediocre for IAP standards. |

I'm bored of my Wellesley. I'm done with all my naval missions and now he's sitting there in retirement. Where's the fun in having him command infantry? Heh
Really he is just there to give falsen and sakuraku backup.They should've made Nelson the British IAP instead .

There’s one thing Wellesley is good at, well for infantry that is, and that’s tanking cavalry while having his terrain bonus. Ambush + mountain gives him a 15% dodge chance against cavalry. That means that he dodges every 7th or 8th cavalry attack on average.
That sounds nice, but no infantryman really stands up very well against 6 cavalry attacks. And keeping him on a mountain is pretty infeasible.
