That was an amazing result that Russia just pulled in the world cup beating Spain no less, they have done very well. Being a host nation does a great deed in motivating the players. Well done Russia! Croatia did it too, that was not expected, good job, way to go Croatia! In other news, wow, unlucky Japan got a goal scored against them at the 94th minute but their fans still stayed behind the game to..... ...Clean up!Wow.. what a contrast to so many holigans in so many parts of the world. Japanese football fans, I salute you!

That was close, wasn't it ? I'm glad that England did it in the end. Current generation of English players is talented, but they still lack something as a team...

They still managed to play short passes the whole game. A traditional english team would have gone for long passes and that chaos that they called football. Southgate somehow has undone that

Southgate somehow has undone that I disagree with the generalisation, the England teams of 1998, 2002 & 2006 were all decent footballing sides. However, 2010 & 2014 were abysmal so I agree that he's improved on his immediate predecessors.

U dont see the whole team go in attack like crazy and u dont see them trying to do only long passes without reason. For what i see its a team who knows what is doing 😊

It is a shame that they were unable to find a common language on the field. But they were always a bunch of individual stars rather than a team. And I have to agree that team tactic was awful most of the time. I blame head coaches for that. Some of them were mediocre at best, imo. MacClaren, Hodgson even Eriksson were simply not up to the task...

No argument on McClaren & Hodgson (and don't forget Capello), but Sven's teams were pretty good imo - Lampard-Gerrard conundrum aside. His teams lost to Brazil 2-1 (Ronaldinho fluke) QF 2002, and Portugal on penalties QF 2004 & 2006 so certainly not a terrible tournament record, and who can forget Germany 1 England 5 in 2001? Yes, that's right, England FIVE! In Germany!
