I really liked Jerrard-Lampard generation. It is a shame that they were unable to find a common language on the field. But they were always a bunch of individual stars rather than a team. And I have to agree that team tactic was awful most of the time. I blame head coaches for that. Some of them were mediocre at best, imo. MacClaren, Hodgson even Eriksson were simply not up to the task... No argument on McClaren & Hodgson (and don't forget Capello), but Sven's teams were pretty good imo - Lampard-Gerrard conundrum aside. His teams lost to Brazil 2-1 (Ronaldinho fluke) QF 2002, and Portugal on penalties QF 2004 & 2006 so certainly not a terrible tournament record, and who can forget Germany 1 England 5 in 2001? Yes, that's right, England FIVE! In Germany!  Churchill said after Dunkirk: "You can't win wars simply by evacuations"  . Eriksson had a good record on paper with dismal final results. Every team has its ups and downs, but every time England was a hot favorite and every time there was a disappointment for English fans. I would call it an "underachievement" |

I would call it an "underachievement" England with beckham had a good generation of footballers and as individuals they managed to go far but as for tactics england lacked it totally. What i like about southgate is that he is trying to put the team on the right path by making it “down to earth” so to say, meaning that they can rely on their team and not go play individually and ruin everything. I think sweden showed very good qualities and it will be a good match but i think wngland will win at the end with no extra time 😊 |

However, having now lived through the subsequent 3 national managers I look upon Sven a lot more favourably than perhaps I did at the time. Compared to the next 5 major tournament performances, 2002-6 seem almost like the Halcyon days of the last 2 decades for an England supporter! |

Finally brazil is out of the game. They meet switzerland and they didnt win now they meet belgium and loose. Meaning against strong teams brazil dont stand a chance. Belgium defense was a tragedy tho.france is in the finals for sure so far and i think croatia will meet england in the semi finals. The traditional strong teams are out so we can see some good football now 😊

Well, penalty shootout is always a lottery, but I'm proud nevertheless. Though Russia has few really big talents (let alone big names), they played as a team till the end. Well, England-France is a probable final, but I would like to see Belgium - Croatia instead |

Well, England-France is a probable final, but I would like to see Belgium - Croatia instead penalties are 50-50 chance. At the end of tje fame russia had better chances and fought harder but i guess they did pretty well this world cup 😊 id say england - france in the final. I would love to see croatia but they have to fix their tactics if they wanna win. |
