I'm going to replace Mannerheim eventually. I need to know which is better so I can get the best infantry gen for my collection.

Depends on how much you like the healing skill for infantry. If you like it, get yamashita (or macarthur), but if you don’t, you can get Rundstendt. This is because you want to shove on infantry leader + raider + healing skill on yamashita, while for Rundstedt you can’t do both. Yamashita is very expensive to fully upgrade, as is only exceptional when placed on commandos. I would buy someone like Konev or Guderian before them.

Yeah, if you are prepared to sacfrice machinist, you can shove on infantry leader and rumor, and he will be the best infantry and artillery general in the game. Cuz he has infantry leader and raider for infantry, and artillery leader and precision for artillery. But he wont have health regen |

True, but thats not the case at all with commandos. They do have low hp, but I have seen yamashita one hit kill Leclerc on a romanian commando

Rumor and infantry leader/machinist, machinist if you want to use konev artillery only, or infantry leader if you want a hybrid. I personally used machinist as I found him to be irreplacable of artillery, as leeb does not have a slot for both precision and machinist. However, if you are ready to sacrifice Konev’s healing potential, shove on infantry leader.

For the 500 medal price difference, you can upgrade Rundstedt beyond Yamashita in my opinion
And I'm leery of selecting generals that perform better when wounded, especially infantry
