Try not to kill all the cruisers. One will occupy the upper port. Kill it in a proper moment so You can reoccupy the upper port same turn immediately. And You probably don't need so many generals on shore. Save one to assign to the unit who will reoccupy the upper port. In this case they will nuke him instead. That's how I did it. I presume that best75 ' Yamamoto is dead already, so Manstein was the last resort... I has not deployed Yamamoto yet in that game. The sub next to Manstein was low on HP. I was planning to use missile to destroy the sub so Manstein could move up and I would have space to build another sub for Yamamoto to deploy on.

Not it sure if will help, but I couldn’t hold the ports as AI kept spamming nuclear rockets - so I did a slight different tactic, first I killed the first wave of ground assault and then sent a tank and a rocket artillery to attack the main city. After that it was easy to hold the port. I also used the infantry unit with a general to sit in a port as it takes ages to die. .org/image/8smagell0b/] [/url]

upload image for websiteI miscalculated on bottom port and lost it but was able to get the enemy mot inf general to grab the top port earlier. I easily grabbed it back and then dumped my 3 tank generals in the water (plus the beefy mot infantry) and blocked them out. I bought a sub on the last turn and it barely survived. The land units survive longer than the subs lol. Because they have more HP, but also the AI goes for the port.

I got it done rotating land units thru buffer zone at South Port and got lucky with leaving a enemy land unit at northern Port until last moment then I also recaptured it. I used 6 generals, aircraft carrier as fodder to create a gap where I deployed defense. Saved kutznetsov, Nimitz for last but unnecessary as land unit rotations proved effective and still had Guderian, Rommel and konev ready to reinforce. Messe, to my regret, is said to be, as is the custom, still on patrol (lost). 2 full infantry should be enough and commanders barely any upgrades except Navy tech at about 80-90 percent. Oh and I didn't attack when enemy health was low. Used those also as buffers.

Phew, after a million tries, I finally did it. Thanks for the guides, though I had to combine them to finally do it (although that time I managed to hold both ports easily) First, I positioned the 3 tanks and rockets containing Guderian, Rommel, Messe and Konev to the ‘Alaska bulge’, then sent Guderian ON ROUND 2 to capture the city with nukes ON ROUND 5. He was unable to defend against Zhukov’s counterattack, but then I managed to hold off by spamming tier 4 light infantry. Meanwhile, I let Vasilevsky capture and hold the upper port while I put Messe next to him with the towed artillery. (As said in the part before, land units will stay idle in the port) until round 13, then I killed Vasilevsky to retake the port with Messe. Meanwhile, in the southern port, I occupied the 2 spaces in the sea which can attack the port with mechanized infantry and Nimitz in super carrier, and motorized with Rundstedt in the port. The enemy subs didn’t even lower Rundstedt to 300 health. Had to retry several times because Guderian’s assault on the tank failed multiple times at the worst time, failed to capture city and allowed the Soviets to nuke Rundstedt. To sum it up, just (1) weaken enemy landing units, (2) send Guderian in super tank westward (he MUST go in the water on round 2 or he will never reach the city on time) as well as spam air strikes on the city with carriers, (3) Hold the nuclear city AT ALL COSTS (4) either hold southern port the whole time, or hold off temporarily in the southern port then retake the north.

lol i bore the brunt hard by just eating the nukes and not attempting to capture the city at all. Maybe thats why I took a few months for this mission lol. Anyways, operationoverdrive, have you completed all the domination mode special games yet?

Fun fact Bing, I am still stuck on this mission, but after millions of tries, I found out a way to bait the Soviets to nuke another unit.

I have finished all general discount missions, all of the hold the ground, accumulate supplies and stuff, and just need to do battle of the Philippines and other missions after that. (I don’t need a guide for now, I just have to upgrade more naval tech first ‘cause my naval tech sucks)

I trolled the Soviets by having Dönitz stay on the carrier below while my generals defended against the forces in the north. As such, the Soviet submarines to the south took a lot of time to kill Dönitz. When they did kill him, they occupied the port, but left it unoccupied soon after and went to join the main force in the north. However, by alternating between land units, I was able to hold the northern port without the Soviets making me unable to move. While the Soviets were busy on the northern port, I sneaked Konev into the southern port to occupy it. When the Soviets captured the northern port, it was too late for them and they didn’t manage to capture the southern port in time. Perfectly doable without Cold War tech.

wait why didnt you just abandon the southern port from the start then xD To stall those submarines as much as possible, so that when I recapture the port, the challenge has almost ended and they are far from the port and take some time to return (Which in my case was enough time to complete the mission).
