wait why didnt you just abandon the southern port from the start then xD To stall those submarines as much as possible, so that when I recapture the port, they are far from there and take some time to return (Which in my case was enough time to complete the mission). but if you let them target the north early on they can potentially block cruisers from getting in range of your unit :0 hmm I last tried this mission months ago so my memory is quite unreliable

It’s a mission where the AI behavior is hard to understand.

Way to go Cool beans, it is currently my last challenge and it’s a challenge for sure, if only the enemy had one or two less starting subs my gosh it is hard hard.

I picked up a trick from a YouTuber “war master” in one of the hold the ground the invasion of Egypt I think where he deploys bunkers to stop a frontal assault an invasion it is highly affective tactic diverted the enemy to moving around the wall of bunkers became easy to win can’t see using it the last hold the ground but I’ll probably use the tactic in future scenarios or conquest.

Is this even possible with my generals and tech levels? I have zero naval generals, my only generals are Messe and Leeb, which I put on the Rocket Artillery and Super Tank. They are still at their original ranks and have the default nametags. My naval tech is only early Pacific. Breezed through all the other Hold The Ground missions, they were all about bunker spam. But I really don't think I have a way to complete this one.

Just like soonerJBD said, use supercarrier and a good triple or double sub as blockers to southern port and dont completely kill soviet subs in front of you. Get another double or triple sub into that port asap. Hold nothern port as long as you can and destroy all incoming landing craft at sea. I also put my two tank generals and medium tank at sea after wiping out amphibious forces and took russian missle town for good measure along with their port. Housed them good! and drew subs off my port to hold in south.

The Soviet’s ICBM any land unit that comes close to the ports. This requires very high numbers of tech upgrades. You can't avoid them, so you'll have to tank them.

Agreed Nobunaga Oda, I recommend upgarding your anti air units and improving tank air defensives as well. You will still be nuked but at least you will take less damage.
