I made a small test with Mithridates and Octavian, both equip crossbow and have besiege lvl 4, both have lvl 8 in Archer capability. My Archer Tactics is lvl 5 attack Make the test in Spartacus Uprising (my favourite stage to make test ), available Triple Archer legion, stand on Plain terrain and attack nearby single Gladiator legion. So in theory (Android), Mithridates has 15% additional crit rate, 20% additional crit damage, Octavian has 25% additional crit rate and 0% additional crit damage, other factors are same. Each general attacked 75 times (150 times for both). And my result: Mithridates: Normal damage: 59 times, 142 - 184, average: 163.23 Critical damage: 16 times, 240 - 298, average: 268.13 (Crit rate: 21.3%) Octavian: Normal damage: 52 times, 143 - 184, average: 162.88 Critical damage: 23 times, 207- 266, average: 237.26 (Crit rate: 30.7%) I can say, Mithri's talent in Android increase critical damage, not rate. And initial crit rate is about 5% . I give attached data file if anyone want to check raw data. I also check critical rate of Huo (with crossbow + Oration) in theory has 45% additional critical rate and get result: 37 / 75 attacks are critical attacks - 49.33%, about 50% = 45% + 5%. So I think high morale doesn't affect critical rate of units, it's still 5%. And Huo isn't as great as I think Damage test.xlsx (13.85 KB)

Didn't expect the results to be this similar, with Octavian seemingly having the edge.

High morale only work on base stats, not Crit rate. Although I also have Drussus but I'm lazy now

But is only luck (i say probability), somes time my 15% critcal rate commander deals more often criticals attacks than my 30% critical rate drusus.

Pompeii fork might be redundant? You mean gold spear? It belongs to Antony (your best cav gen).

No boi , I mean that gladius of Pompey . The +15 damage item eh. I would probably give mih a gold ring or an hp item, gold ring would work well with advantage while an hp item would fix the crappy health that mih has. Personally, I think his damage is good enough as is, so I would buff his survivability.

He is the only one with that senator ring , while Scipio , the free general , Pompey and Pacorus have Pompeii gladius . Is it good for them ?

This might be an unpopular opinion but I gotta ask, wouldn’t a pompey gladius item (+15 attack) be better than the crossbow (rate of critical attack 15%). Because with a pompey gladius, you get an additional 15 damage to your already existing ability. It is always consistent. It is like taking your general and making his cap not lvl 9 specific ability, but like lvl 11.
That way you won’t have to rely on critical hits.

Consistent damage is better than having a 15% chance to crit. Although, for those who already can reach lvl 8 or 9 in their respective unit attack or those who have a talent that adds crit and has a skill that increases crit when in high morale, then crossbow maybe better. Most of my generals are using Carthage, so yeah

I am gonna keep this as brief as possible to not make it a tedius to read, but I think that mih is actually inferior to octavian and drusus.
Lets analyze what makes Mihridates special. He is good at killing weak units. Imo, these are better off ignored as their damage is weak and they drain away the population space of your enemy. The ideal way to use him is to super stack him on a tier 5 unit and have him attack a strong unit like a heavy infantry or one with a general. The best way to use him you have to fight against a strong general like Crassus along with your time. Don’t even bother using mihridates to attack a general with shield wall. Otherwise, the only other use mihridates vi has is as a clean up guy for weak units, which are really of no threat.
So let’s analyze the advantages that Mihridates VI brings:
Archer Commander: undeniably the best skill in the game. But octavian has this as well doesn’t he? Excellent Skill
Jungle Fighting: a strong skill no doubt. But both mihridates attacking a strong unit with less legions than him on a jungle tile is not really that common. It is inactive 50% of the time, and uneeded another 30% of the time. Due to fog of war, it is far inferior to pf. Better used on units such as Infantry or Cavalry as they are the ones that are in more need of higher output. Average Skill.
Besiege + Scare: again, this is what separates Mih from octavian the most. Might make a difference when killing the stronger units like heavy cavarly or infantry. Works pretty well with archer commander? But is it really that good? Good skill only when archer commander triggers. Otherwise, average. Before you start questioning my opinion here, asking yourself? Is it archer commander that makes mihredates strong or besiege? Octavian has besiege with a better talent, and Drusus has neither, but isn’t hurt at all by it.
Advantage: this is a good skill to have early on. But later on in the game, when you have multiple generals needing the oration tactic, even the ones without the roar/assualt/sailor/advantage skills will find themselves in need of inspiration. Oration lasts for 3 turns, so you can at most use it on 3 units on a consistent basis. You can give migridates a golden ring only in campaigns as he is very slow. Good skill.
9 stars archer ability: redundant. Makes really no difference whatsoever.
Octavian may lose the 9th archer star, but he gains accuracy, which is a mandatory skill on an archer, and a better talent. Drusus is much better at staying alive and deals consistently high critical damage. Even counterattack is a better addition than jungle fighting as it is the only way that archers take damage.
Conclusion: I still think he is a great choice to make. But is he really as good as the other 2?
