ScharnhorstΒ
Price: 3 Emblems or 795 Medals Type of General: Artillery Starting Movement: 3 hex on Rockets and Light Artillery, 2 Hex on Siege and Heavy Artillery Starting Movement after Oak Wheel: 3 hexes on everything Scharnhorst is quite possibly the best price performing general in the game. Not only will he be fast after you give him an oak wheel, his output will be extremely consistent due to accurate. His stars are fantastic, especially his awesome 3 training stars. As he is a trainer, you only really waste 360 medals buying him (Kutaisov is 430 medals and the cheapest trainer). Absolutely fantastic general to purchase. There are not other artillery generals close to as good that are not iaps or princesses.Β I don't understand, what use is artillery trainer when this is the general which skills and stars you want to keep? Trainer is only of use for the general you want to regroup into a good general right? And what use is the 3 training stars? What does that even do? (No insults meant btw I'm just very new to the game and I'm confused)

But the author of this review is not as active as in the past, andΒ hereΒ is a better general review. Anyway, the training stars indicate the chevrons you can make the generals gain during campaign/conquest (it's the button with the symbol of an archery target next to the one for medikits/wine). The general that gains a chevron will regain some health and his defense will slightly increase. They can gain chevrons normally by fighting or you can pay some gold/food to give them one (and the training stars indicate how many times you can do this). Examples: - a general with three training stars starting with no chevrons can gain three by paying. - a general with three training stars starting with one chevron can gain other two chevrons by paying.

But in Scharnhorstβs case Picard simply forgot to add him.

But as soon as youβve unlocked Isabella and Sophia theyβll be your Art 1 and 2. Isabella is faster and with better output, while Sophia is an irreplaceable city cracker. So you can either keep him or use the now obsolete general as a trainer for your princesses when you have limited general slots.

Kate
Type of General: NavyΒ Requirement to Unlock: 350 Years Rule in America Starting Movement: 3 hex on battleship and ironclad, 4 hex on frigate, 2 hex on all artillery units. Kate: by far the best naval general in the game. But she is a one-trick pony as that's the only thing she can do. Especially when compared to ushakov who can a great naval general while also being quite good on artillery. Her versatility is even more limited then victoria, who most likely won't make the final cut. She has her place, but do not keep her unless you have purchase iap slots. Otherwise, just give lan the firetruck and fan and she will not be much worse. If you have only 4 slots, don't even regroup elpinstone into her twice, just use her till you run out of slots then regroup her. But for others who have many slots, she is a must keep.Β Β

After you play some more conquests it gets easier. You can also add some tavern generals in the conquest to help your army out. Finally resources are important! Use Washington for the USA to trade to max out your food and gold.

I have a question
Is it better to have engineering skill (+2 movement) than explosive skill (+1 max)? In my own opinion, I think engineering skill is better but I need to hear from professionals regarding this matter.

Engineering is still very useful, anyway. Get Isabela, if you still miss her, she's got accurate and engineering (ballistics is useless).

I also have another question xd When assault art triggers, does it ignore terrain evasion and city evasion? Or it deals maximum damage where evasion is applied?

I costs 1080ποΈ for trainers to compensate. Explosive give +3 DMG on average - nice gunpowder has more effect. Apart Spy are all dammage skills not so effective - to avoid evasion, this are key skills for artillery and cavalry.

Yes and it is very sad if AssultArt triggers on low health without snair.

Because of this, it makes me want to prefer Davout over Sophia since I can have 2 potent powder with Davout (to add more damage) while I need to put War Horse with Sophia.

Because of this, it makes me want to prefer Davout over Sophia since I can have 2 potent powder with Davout (to add more damage) while I need to put War Horse with Sophia.Β One thing that changes a lot: I swap items - every round. I only have one War horse, so I am forced to swap this every round. So for me a round has 3 or 4 parts. - Initial elimination (only cav) - Moving - Attack - AI-turn During attack I use +6/+6 or +6/Snair for both - so item wise I have no difference between Sophia or Davout. Sophias advantage is Spy and SiegeMaster eliminates the city defense. BUT: As a mission or conquest commander, Davout's Geography is probable the best skill for Art/Cav. For HQ-commander Geography is only at the beginning great, but mid- to endgame pretty useless. AA is non reliable - but fun if it tiggers. without geography: Warhorse/+2movement + 5β = +7 (max): with geography: +2movement/+2movement + 5β = +9 (max): +9 movement compared with +7, give only for light/heavy cavalry an advantage - to bad units for a top general. For this reason I rate geography as 'not great' skill for the headquarter commander. Isabella has additional engeneering and can arrive up to +11 (max) - +10 movement are already sufficient to move heavy artillery or siege 5 hex. 1,4,7,10 this are the important steps for movement. One extra β has a greater effect then any unitdammage skill.
