Managed to reach industrial just this morning too. I'm progressing way faster than I did on my previous runs. And while they helped out, I don't think that the princesses were that huge of an advantage. Like they may have saved me a discovery india conquest run or two. And I'm suddenly able to clear basically every daily invasion for some reason, which gives me like 80 diamonds and artwork every time. So I'm at the stage of the game where every single resource except for medals and holy relics are 100% worthless. Yeah, all Invasions are a piece of cake late in the game, because players don't have any lvl disadvantages anymore, and their generals are working in synergy, while AI has only a random choice of generals. I would like to see some kind of in-game bazaar or market, so that players could exchange resources. But I doubt it will be done in EW5. I wouldn't really call what I see the player AI do with my generals "working in synergy" . It's still mind-bendingly bad, and I don't get good rage regen to really utilize commander and stuff, but yeah my team is stronger than basically any team the AI can put together, especially since they always seem to get 1-3 gray generals who die really fast.

As a football/soccer coach you can't control all aspects of the match, but you can prepare your team in such way that success will be possible, even probable

Wow, you're flying through! I'm still 400 lit short and only at Greaat Navigator 5. My idea was to rush through Discovery age campaigns no matter what. One star, two stars - I didn't care. The point was to reach Nelson's second campaign. As it is known, we have 320 literature in Discovery age. So, I decided to advance to Gunpowder as soon as possible. Not for the sake of artifacts (though it is nice as well), but first of all to unlock as many cities in Empire as I can. Besides, I haven't hired anyone (Attila was the only one exception). I keep my options open and I am curious whether it is possible to reach 155 cities with only free generals and Attila... Gunpowder after only 3 weeks is mightily impressive so it was a sound idea! How many cities do you have? I'm at 116. I might have to call in sick at work and quit the gym so I can try and catch up

Come to think of it. Is there any good way to run up the player level? See, I’m at lv. 77 and I’ve got 150 cities and my team can smash most AI battles. I really don’t feel like actually playing any empire level right now since they’re really hard right now and I don’t think I could beat more than 1 or 2. If I could just unlock some AI battles, then I could easily get 155.

Just clear all the invasions and missions (they are the only reliable source of leveling up fast) or complete a conquest in the Gunpowder Age. I'm sure you'll be able to complete the next five battles.

I have conquered 102 cities, but I suffer chronically from lack of diamonds, so I have extensive building projects ahead of me

Sadly we can not send resources. I have the max amount for everything except for literature (almost 800), but I'm in The Industrial Age, so they are useless...

Daily invasions reach their maximum power at lvl 60, and your opponents won't ever be more difficult than they are now. And there is always a chance to beat one or two AI-controlled battles even if it seemed to be extremely difficult before. Just experiment with pace of your generals and order you deploy them. It may sound unbelievable but this alone can turn the tide...

Yeah, at some point you don't need anything except medals (and now spare parts for artifacts also ). Therefore I prefer to complete all conquests and Gunpowder age campaigns before reaching Industrial age, so that gained literature wouldn't be absolutely useless...

The entire pacific ocean is grayed out for me because my level is too low. I'm doing every mission and every invasion I can at the moment and I'm still leveling up too slowly for my taste. Oh well. They'll come eventually.

More than once changing a general's boots and/or position has made the difference, stopping cavalry from an opening move suicidal charge into archers or archers into infantry etc.

More than once changing a general's boots and/or position has made the difference, stopping cavalry from an opening move suicidal charge into archers or archers into infantry etc. I do that already. The AI seem to have some kind of «lock on» system where it’ll try to exclusively target one unit. Often on a unit across the map. And I think it tries to exclusively use one route too, stopping up if an allied or an enemy unit is in the way. And this «locked on» unit seem to also change depending on whatever the health values are right there and then. Well. That’s kind of my theory on why the AI seem to like to run past enemies into an archer death trap, why it likes to line up your generals uselessly, and why it sometimes decides to run back and forth after a while. I think it might be worth trying to change the gear to change the turn order that the AI takes. I’m very sure that the AI moves the «strongest» generals first.

So I've finally got 155 cities. And I can beat Nordic Decisive Battle consistently. So I'm getting 690 medals per day, which is pretty nice.
