What kind of general would suit each artifact? I’m thinking Gungnir for an archer because of the throw and attack right?

IMO, you should give artifacts which have active skill to generals have attack skill - because it's waste of artifact's active skill when you give it to general has buff skill. In my team I give bottle of life to Khan, Gungir to Washington, Mystletainn to Nobunaga and Ring to Blucher. One more thing, the range of artifact skill is same to attack range of your general.

To add to this, the Mystletainn gives a huge HP regen, while the Gungnir doesn’t. The result is that you should put the Mystletainn on someone who can’t heal, while putting the Gungnir on someone who can. You can also put the Gungnir on someone who can simply avoid counterattacks, but you’d better have another way to heal that general within your own team. yuanzhong here is putting the Gungnir on Washington, who can both heal and avoid counterattacks (most of the time), and Mystletainn on Nobunaga, who can’t heal.
