So you can't control your own troops when you are attacked? Also, only 5 turns to traverse rivers/mountains, reach the enemy hq and then destroy the enemy units is meh.

Agreed ! I mean I literally just got two strong formations whipped out playing as the northern French army, and in these, I lost Messe, Leclerc and Bock I think... and yeah, only five turns to win... kinda ridiculous. I’m somewhat disappointed with this mode, although, I’m really enjoying the campaign mode, it is really interesting for me.

Yeah, not being able to even see what your troops are doing when the enemy attacks feels unfair.

Yeah, not being able to even see what your troops are doing when the enemy attacks feels unfair. Sure ! If we could at least defend ourselves, even if we are in fact defeated, it would be possible to retreat and save your forces in order to counter-attack ( and specially save your generals ).

I've been attacked a few times and I could control my troops. The 5 turns with so much rivers, mountains and bottlenecks makes it really hard to defeat the enemy.

The 5 turns limit is currently bad but it might be better (or not) with a better tech level. We shall see. But cannot control our troops when being attacked is really annoying. I am not sure if this is intended, or a glitch. But as think currently goes, generals can become trivial since they can just disappear anytime. And, same story as gabs , my Messe, Leclerc and Bock were just replaced with Smigly and his normal infantry pals over an enemy turn. Wonder how he could destroy my whole army led by 3 generals without any casualty.

It's only a theory, but I think that if you skip your opponents turns you cannot control your troops in defense. I started playing German Group D and I always waited to see what poland did as they were the first to attack after my turn, I could control my troops. Then, when facing Yugoslavian Army I skipped the opponents turns and got two generals swipped by them without chance to defend.

I tried not fast forwarding the enemy turn and now the game allows me to control my defending army. It seems like a glitch to me that the game treats our troops the same way as other AI's troop in the fast forwarding.

To just hope that your troops would fare well when being attacked felt like gambling sometimes as if they would just expose themselves to enemy arty/navy, but now it’s going to be much better, even if we have to go like the good old days of World Conqueror 2/European War 3 when you couldn’t skip turns Now, the 5 turns limit is understandable if they wanted to give us a more slow paced and strategic approach to the game.

Maybe is my lack of patience, but I don't do well in Army Group mode. So far I've tried the three german armies (I though would be the easiest) and in 20/25 turns I lose my generals and cannot stop the enemy advance.
I need to rethink the way to do this conquests. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? I was able to complete the 1939 conquest with the Western Italian Army just attacking the Southern French Army as they were mostly passive and the germans quickly overran Belgium and North France. Then it was just a matter of time to the fall of the UK.

One thing that we have to be aware of in this mode is the fact that, when going on the offensive, we should always remember to replenish and/or recruit more units for the already existing ones whenever we have reached a city or industry, because, otherwise, even a small formation of the enemy can annihilate our weaker ones. ( sorry for butchering the grammar ).

I won as Slovak Army Group, isn’t too difficult. Took me 68 turns. Relatively easy.

I've completed 1939 with Bulgarian Army Group and then, with Italian Army Group West. Basically, all what you have to do to win is to recruit as much units as you can, and never attack if your opponent has more units. I think that the biggest problem is that you cannot move your troops in an area controlled by allies, which means that you can get stuck. Same goes for your allies! I've noticed that Hungarian and Slovak Army Groups usually get stuck in the east of the map and cannot move their troops to the west to help you fight France or Britain.
