M Soviet and PRC are just like Axis power in 39, they expand no matter what side you choose. So, my best advice? Iraq and Iran. I recommend Govorov, Badoglio, or Chung.

I find that some nations are easier than others. I would try these nations and strategies (At least until you feel comfortable being a more difficult nation).
3 star: The U.S. can push into Thailand, then lower China (Then upper), and finally push across the Middle East and Russia. France (Was it a one star, or two star? Just use it for either) can push across Germany and use them as a buffer between you and Russia. China should push into Alaska, then all of America, and finally flank Europe and Africa from America. Russia should push Scandinavia, then kill off England, and finally crush Brazil so that you may conquer America.
2 star: Australia can follow the same path as America, but isn't recommended for 1960 because of India. Italy can push into lower Russia and the Middle East, and move form there.
1 star: Greece can push into lower Russia and the Middle East (try to weaken the Russia tank generals around here, as they area MAJOR threat) and move form there. Hungary can push into Europe and move into America from there.

Turkey with a good air general can stop all Russian offensives while meyer (or some tank general) and inoue destroy bulgaria ,egypt, iran, and iraq. After that victory is inevitable.

Erich von Manstein you can refer to my guide to make it easier... BTW I'm turn 100 and it will ask 5-10 turns to end it as I am in europe and USSR conrols south-west coast of france and whole UK and greece; yugoslavia and some more cities + egypt will die in 3 turns max. maybe I will post some pictures in the end.

Easier said than done, granted, for most of those, but the AI tend to follow a distinct path. You can easily use that to your advantage 95% of the time.
