Buy it would have tied less troops. Yes, but as I said Crimea was a threat to Romanian oilfields and oversea supply routes. But I don't.

If you don't believe me, then you don't. Soviet Union was not capable of such outflanking offensive, it is a huge logistical challenge, I don't think they would try such attack if Germany was overrunning Ukraine and Southern Russia.

Maybe not but that doesn't mean that the Axis could have just let the Soviets in the Crimea be on their own. Also the main reason for the occupation of Crimea was the aerial threat to Romanian oilfields.

Also John Marston I think you meant before the 6. Army was encircled but I wanted to make sure.

Well, Soviet Airforce would be largely focused on Case Blue in that case and Luftwaffe had capability to fight off those attacks.

In the battle of Caucasus the Soviets used alot of Seagull-fighters due to their high maneuverability and low speed and Iljušin Il 2 Šturmoviks to attack german columns rather than heavy bombers. Of course some bombers would be needed to Stalingrad, but neither sides could bomb enemy lines in Stalingrad because of the risk of hitting own troops. Don't forget the Luftwaffe would be tied in Case Blue aswell. In case of the bombing of Romanian oilfields Hitler would be screwed because a very big part of Germany's oil came from Romania. Case Blue started only just before the surrender of Sevastopol. Also John Marston and Gerd von Rundstedt, will this argument with Shrimant Peshwa Madhavrao Bhat be taken in to count in my application.

Firstly even if Germany would have got oil from Caucasus the Romanian oil fields would have still played a part. Secondly Soviets could either pin Germans or tranfer their own troops to defend Caucasus. Of course the Soviets managed to evacuate some troops from the besieged Sevastopol, but suffered alot of casualties. If the battle of Stalingrad had went how it went, the Germans would have to evacuate forces from the Caucasus region, because of the risk of being cut off, thus not getting the lil Hitler wanted.

Caucasian oil reserves were much larger than Romanian. Battle of Stalingrad would not have been that much important if Germany would have succeeded in Caucasus.
