I saw somewhere that Yamashita and MacArthur are musts and Donitz or Naguno luxury. I also saw claims that Donitz is must and Infantry generals luxury. So what do you guys think?

I am also quite short on allies generals, since I didn't need them to this point

I personally think that in this game none are musts, but a good infantry is much more helpful than anything else. Provided you went with the general consensus of Leeb and Guderian (Badoglio, Bock, and Messe are spinning in their early graves), then you should at this point get Rundstedt, then MacArthur.

You can try which one you prefer for Infantry Rundstedt (Highest Survivability but low output except if IL Trigger also he is slow just like turtle) or Yamashita (Require tons of money to be replenished but higher damage output than Rundstedt also fast). I Choose Rundstedt tho, For Naval you'll need them if you want to complete this campaign easier. But if your naval tech level is 3 or 4 or above, i'll say no need go buy Mac with those medals you saved to buy Naval gen. But if no choose Donitz (Great Damage, fast, better survivability) or Nagumo (Cheaper than Donitz, Not so great but is great damage, Slower, but having Logistic which sometimes can be good)

I personally got Donitz at the end of 1941 Eastern Front (I was in rage so... ) But though initially I regretted buying him so early, he justified it in Pacific 1942 campaigns. I would advise Donitz first, but if you need more power on land, then get Yamashita/Kuribayashi (Cheaper, but just as powerful as Yamashita)first. I bought my first Allied general (MacArthur) in 1941 North African front so Allied 1942 are really doable except a few without generals.

The Axis naval missions are all really easy, and even the ones that are pure naval support aren't hard (except for Singapore) Doenitz is better bought in 44. Again, I vote Rundstedt.

Alright, let's plunge into the debate. Yamashita is better because he has better damage and is much faster.

Alright, let's plunge into the debate. Yamashita is better because he has better damage and is much faster. Speed doesn't matter with SF promotion, and IL does on average better damage than BC. FS is better than Guerilla because survivability needs consistency. Guerilla will do more in the long run, but it is too unstable to be counted on. Plunder (18 HP/stack you kill) cannot be replaced, and is better than Samurai, which can be replaced by the very good Samurai and Patriot when necessary.

In addition, he is the third best HT in the game and has IMO the best skill synergy in the game, and although he is worse than MacArthur, you cannot deny that he is very similar.

Thanx guys!! 😁 I really appreciate all the help. My plan is to buy both MacArthur and axis Infantry general and maybe Donitz If I need him 😬. I'll need to grind for him though

He does has the best skill set, but it's more of a defensive one. He is the third best HT in the game, but when you can have the medals to buy him, you can grind a week for daily grinding and buy Rommel.

I'll need to grind for him though Try doing those army groups. Focus on German 1939 army groups. They all are really easy and short too. Also put some effort in perfect clearing campaigns. Don't neglect the united front missions as you can use them to gain prestige points, which give a lot of medals.

It is true that they are cheap to recruit and replenish, but survivability means that one saves money in any case, and to help in the times between city jumping IMO.
