Ah yes. Crete. One of the hardest missions in Allies 1939, after Battle of Greece. I did the first part in this guide and i beat this perfectly (but took me 7, 8 tries to finish).
Main Objective: Control 2 Areas. Max turns: 12 (that means you need to defend Chania and 1 city (westernmost if not captures, if captured the southwestern city).
Secondary Objectives:
Hold Chania (Turn 6)
Defeat Student (Turn 6)
Defeat 12 Enemy Units (Turn 8)
Generals:
As usual, Cunningham and Leclerc. I actually had max tech (for 1939, all level 2).
Steps:
1. I placed Leclerc on medium tank and cunningham on cruiser (big ship). Attack submarines because they will wreck your ships. make sure to block submarine entrance to port (i lost western port but retained the center one). defeat these fat bois and once you do eliminate navy (might take u 4-8 turns but just try). I actually lost the westernmost city but i did it on purpose because you will lose it anyway.
2. Attack all units of Germany currently near Chania and westernmost city. put anti-air dudes + assault troop in Chania. make 1 parachute regiment, scout on students airport but before that place anti-aircraft troop below western port to avoid Student from landing near city.
Parachute to airport once u scout area, do not worry about your unit dying just when he reaches 1 health bar retreat him back to crete. Hopefully Student will land in this area. Put leclerc near Student's landing area to attack him, also use fighters.
3. Once Cunningham kills the submarines attack the rest of the German navy. And make sure to put at least 1 reinforcement (Scotland Engineer i forgot)in the southern city. Do nto worry about invading German troops just keep defending. Leclerc died to units and Cunningham to a flecking infantry unit.
4. When you're almost done and German troops from the east attack chania, make sure u saved economy bc you will need to recruit and replenish the unit.
5. Defend southern city, too. I sent reinforcement (Sexton) to help the infantry unit.
Hopefully, you enjoyed this guide. If you completed Mercury (at least passed it) you can unlock 1941!
