An enemy general in the hand is worth two in the bush. Unless you have War Elephants. Or Borees. Or really anything that can attack multiple times.
Infantry may be tiny, but if you can stack 'em... do it.
Slow and steady wins the race. Also combined arms. And the concept of the schwerpunkt. Trenches help too.
