I donβt see how starting victoria is any worse than Dobeln. Fine, she loses 2 stars on infantry. But she has 4 star movement, assualt art, defense art, and 5 training stars thrown in. So many benefits for only two stars difference. I am not really a fan of victoria either. Imo Golitsyn with a snair drum is probably the best last slot filler anyone can ask for. But Victoria is a significant improvement on Dobeln. I know, but you never know how people think (but why don't you just get two Ferguson?). As for Golitsyn... sometimes you really have to wait for a few turns and spend a good bunch of valuable resources to build a cavalry unit for him, whereas Victoria can be deployed right away. I consider that a difference. Can be big or small depending on the playing style. A valid point. There always is a really powerful infantry unit available. But you could still train sophia to be infantry prior to getting golitsyn as the last slot. As Sophia is Ney just far better on artillery, she will be a fine general to put on guards or grenadiers. The other alternative is so use lan. With a snair drum, I personally think she is better than Victoria as Leadership is a great skill.

Does anyone know the era of enlightenment mod? Because it has great generals like Fredrick the great, Maria and many more.

I canβt wait to resume my list. But I do have a couple questions. 1. I feel as though Dobeln should be green instead of pink or even blue. Sure he has mass fire + bugle + 5 stars. The reasons are that - He is an infantry general. Infantry generals are not great for getting princesses. - He is not a trainer. Sulkowski, Raevsky, Scharnhorst are all fantastic trainers with decent movement (except Sulkowski, but its forgivable). Plus a 900 medal check is a lot. - He has 0 training stars. - You get Maria who is a reasonable infantry general early on. You also get Sakurako who is an improvement on Maria, and then you will get Victoria. Regardless if you have only 4 slots, or have all 12, I feel as tho Dobeln is kind of meh. He is still obviously pretty good as with tall boots, heβll be a pretty competent and fast infantry general. But he does have many flaws hindering him. I feel that Zakrevsky is a far better purchase as he is a trainer, making the actual waste on him under 35 medals, as he is barely more expensive than Latour. While Bugle is lost, bugle and 2 extra stars that Dobeln. Plus for the price of one dobeln, you could have a zakresky and a lusignan for campaign missions, which will be of a great help. Do you guys agree with the harsh rating, or should it be blue at least. Dobelnβs value depends on Victoria. He is too expensive to be a temporary general and good enough to replace her. I bought him once because I wasnβt that sure Iβll finally get Victoria anyway.

The other one I am unsure of is Yermolov. Yermolov imo is significantly worse than scharnhorst as in trying to be an infantry hybrid, Yermolov loses an entire hex of movement due to his lack of engineering. While this is fixable with items, this would either require two oak wheels or a horse artillery to fix. Which is very expensive. On infantry, he is not exactly spectacular either. Imo, he is very meh on infantry. Plus bugle >>> formation, so you will rarely use him on infantry. As Sophia is obtainable very early on, 3 artillery generals is not needed. The fact you can get 2 princess artillery doesnβt lower Scharnhorstβs value for a beginner, or does it? Yermolov is IMO the second best choice after Scharni when one gets tired of waiting for him in the academy. The refresh system is the one annoying flaw in EW4 ET seems to put in every game. So for me Yermolov is one rank below Scharnhorst, but still a good first artillery/trainer.

I would spend the emblems we get to buy Berthier or other cavalry generals. The fact that he is a trainer lowers his level, since the traimer skill is either useless or you buy a trainer with emblems !

Well, nowadays, with the experience of one playthrough, I wouldnβt buy any general, too. With 2-3 conquests you can get the lower princesses first and use them to achieve the elite. Nevertheless I bought some tier 2 as a beginner, because IE-Battle of three emperors and COA-Battle of Austerlitz can be quite a first roadblock for a newcomer with only Maria, Fatima and Sophia. So, depending on players skill and talent a temporary gen with a trainer skill has either a big value or none at all.

I agree . I've just started EW4 again and I was able to get Sophia, Isabella, Fatimah and Maria in 38 turns HRE using only Kutaisov ( I used an auto clicker to max his nobility ) and little progres ( only 30 stars ). I'm going to improve their rank, get more items and afterwards I'm going to try USA 1775 for Lan (it shouldn't be that hard with max nobility ).

Kutaisov is imho the best tier 1, because heβs both usable AND the cheapest trainer for his unit.

For me sakurake came along with Isabella - and she is from the start a good cavalry general useful for American conquest due to her speed and strike - In the beginning a snair for every greenhorn general or princess is advised

Maybe I need to advance further in Campaign ( also, my rank lv is only 33 ).

Imo Yermolov is not good as Kutaisov has the same movement and explosives + siege. Kutaisov is 430 medals and the cheapest trainer while Yermolov is like 700. I kind of agree as the refresh system will be a pain. But I still say wait for scharnhorst, or grab someone like charles from tier 1 if you canβt get a trainer.

If you can trade with a 2β trader try to max food and gold (I believe the resource calculation ratio of 1:2 belongs to every conquest) The Asian princess have also a minimum requirement of resources too (I don't know the limit - but it's not very high) 250 years seem very little - so have a look at your resources. I read somewhere here in the forum that for every 50 campaign stars there will be probably a bonus added to Asian years ruled - so keep a save.
