so time passed and i am curious: is there a f2p player who reached his item?
bc i just expended all my resources for fun to see how far i could push and didnt get past stage 47. around 100k merit. 48 starts at 104k and 50 is around 124k or sth. starting to loose hope after all...

I didn't have it since the very beginning. I mean the hope Yet, keep your chin up - "where is a will - there is a way"

Same here… lvl 45 and it seems so far. Slightly better hopes to get li jing’s weapon but even that I am not sure I will get it before I finish all chapters… a bit of a shame

Haha I'm also at lv47 but I don't see the need to push for it by collecting fragments for upgrading unneeded units. Just like with Li Jing's and Alexios' weapons, Subutai's will become available eventually and each update and newly added unit will get us there faster.

I can even if I were f2p 😄 even at 1.8 version. Keep going bro.

I don’t dare, even to dream about it. The time when I reach that far, the item shouldn’t be so important, how can Subutai or Li Jing take the first team place of those Tzimiskes, Nevsky, Gao Xianzhi…

The first one is extremely difficult to get if a player doesn't have Charlemagne. The second one depends only on how passionate a player replays Epic battles over and over again, earning thus the necessary points for HoQ.

Oh, I dunno that replaying Epic battles helps getting HoQ, and time, is more valuable than money, imo. But yeah, I should do some Epic battles when I have time, Li Jing is a very good Shock Cav General with his weapon, although Jet Back Cav is not easy to get and level up. Subutai, can’t compare to Timur or Elcid, even Uthman with the purple crossbow better than him without unique weapon, we should not focus on him.

One could say that obtaining Subutai's weapon is an indicator of how much one is willing to grind for gold (or automate the process) As yuanzhong said, buying fragments from the gold shop and upgrading them along everything else we get from pulls and rewards would be enough for lv50 sans Charlemagne.
Erich , even without personal weapon, Subutai offers more mobility and only slightly less firepower than El Cid who either has to field some clumsy legion mix to make use of outburst or is slowed down by conquistador(s) among ranged cavalry (without rapid march). 2nd best archer in my team.

It is not as straightforward as in case of Li Jing's weapon, I am afraid The number of fragments in the shop is pretty limited. And majority of these fragments are low tier units. They do not provide us with enough points to make a significant step forward. It is possible, of course, to buy and to dismantle Legion Brigade fragments and to convert them to war souls, but, man, it is a hell of adventure for the sake of Subutai's weapon And each new upgrade is harder and harder. Recently I unlocked and upgraded JBC up to lvl 10. And it wasn't enough to make a single step up. In comparison, I only one step behind unlocking Li Jing's weapon. And, truth be told, I haven't put any extraordinary efforts into this. Just regular stuff...

It's a hell of a grind for sure which involves spending several hundreds of thousands of gold per day and possibly a little rerolling the shop on top of this. One hard working guy on discord took the effort to investigate PoS point yields of all units (down to each upgrade) and 2handed sword, Nordic HA, Legion S, Phalanx, War Axe, Camel R, NC, Normans, Ravennas are among the best two categories which means dismantling LegionB is not necessary.
