Student usually leaves Copenhagen pretty early for me. govorov, sikorski, bittrich, tank EC, guderian. 2nd tank ec after taking thr first city with factory. I tried an alternate rout with sansonetty on ship going for student immidietly but it also failed though it seemed promising. |

If you attack generals in cities in operations, they’re far less likely to leave. There’s only two reasons I strike generals: either to kill them as fast as possible or to injure them to lower their counterattacks.
Don’t strike CPH until you’re ready to kill the general/seize it.
Also if you’re having trouble consider restarting and going through Paris. That route is FAR easier than the route you took. I find Paris to be the hardest map and a relatively boring slog, but Yugoslavia is a cakewalk and you should have enough firepower for the last campaign.

I think the consensus is Amsterdam is the easier route. Bastogne is fine but Paris is Berlin level. |

If not, you should use him as artillery for now. This is not confirmed yet but I think the trigger for Student leaving Copenhagen is the annihilation of the troops between List and Model, not including them. Try to avoid List and head straight to Model, killing the units between them on the way, so you can bring Student out and deploy your second ec. |

I have by now beaten overlord in both easy and medium but just not yet in hard.
I have 1 lvl 2 epropriation and 1 lvl 1 expr.
Since i am now struggling with the hard mode i am avoiding amsterdam currently trying out the paris route. But plottwist the used to be super tank got downgraded to a heavy so ... from pretty easy paris route, it went to rly frikn hard as well...
I will give both routes a couple more attempts over the following days.

Just completed operation Overlord on hard difficulty. No ion cannon. Generals used: custom tank general on the initial super tank, custom artillery gen on initial rocket art, Sikorski on initial field art, Katukov on one of the initial heavy tanks, Govorov on field art produced in Munich, Guderian on super tank produced in Hartmann's city. All generals at general rank except Katukov at marshal and tge custom tank at L general. Medals: the custom tank gen and Guderian had expropriation lvl2, Sikorski and the custom tank general had fire suppression lvl2, Govorov had lvl 3 artillery and lvl3 legion, Katukov lvl5 armored and lvl3 defense. With most of the generals I followed the route already mentioned in the previous posts of this thread. Munich and then east to Hartmann's city ->Frankfurt->Cologne->Hamburg and Berlin for last. Sikorski and Guderian stayed behind to deal with the counterattack by Schorner and other generals and then took the city north of Munich. For this mission you really need expropriation and fire suppression, and also having a good custom tank general helps a lot. I decided to go without Goring because at easy and medium difficulty he was killed quite quickly and I never even got to use him effectively. But the money that is not spent on air attacks allows to spam cheap infantry. The enemy usually attacks them rather than your generals. |
