For example, the best buffs, what paths are better, etc If you can beat Barbarossa hard reliably then it is the best farming ground in terms of time spent/difficulty per medals awarded.
North Africa hard takes more time and is a lot harder and even though you get one more medal, inf air and navy are not very helpful, especially when struggling. Patriotic war has a lot of super tanks to fight against.
Best buffs are +10 for your tanks/artillery +15% vs tanks/artillery and +30% chance for high morale are also good; the rest is very situational if not outright bad.
Minimum for Barbarossa hard is probably 2 top tank and 2 top artillery generals. I find the northern route easier.

For North Africa I found the path to the west (Morocco, Tunisia) was easier than the path to the east. two of the three missions there are defensive so the objectives are a bit easier. Edit: Also no super tanks that you have to deal with, at least on easy
Also just in case you didn't know, but if you lose a general you can always restart the level to get him back

My thought is you lost because you let Dönetz died (which cause morale down on your units as penalty) and probably failed to take down Halsey and Spaatz quick.

right now im stuck at cyrenaica (Invasion of north africa), i loose way too many generals (i have guderian, govorov, sansonetti and an artrillery EC) Heh, seems you read the general guide plastered for everyone to see. I find it unnecessarily punishing, given the large cost of the EC. Get Crerar, his lvl 4 plains fighting will immediately improve your position. Regarding strategy, on first level go south, then east before finishing Benghazi with air general (Sansonetti). Next, go to Morocco, that path is easier. On second level, take out the French heavy tank at Dakar and US tanks near Algeria while keeping American and British troops blocked from Casablanca. For third level, buy subs to take out the carriers while generally holding on land. Finally, take Sicily immediately before defending for a few turns as the British and Americans get mowed down on sea, build subs and push a counterattack. I had more generals (Patton, Crerar and Mikawa) but did the challenge on medium, so it should be about balanced. Gl. (Whoops, didn't see the post was from 6 months ago!) Hope this helps regardless.

If you build the ECs as I instructed, it's not that expensive. They still fall within the price range of an academy general. If it really is that hard for you, leave the rank at Major instead. That should cut the cost by almost 1k.

I already tried building a Artillery EC with Major, cost around 2000 medals, unnecessary when Crerar is a mere 550 or Mikawa, for 1700, gives me good enough artillery power while demolishing at sea. I see your guide as too strict for the game in its current state, since operations and the perks from them have made most alien missions quite a breeze. The only problem with my current build is speedrunning challenge mode, which I'm really not interested in playing. The enormous troop spam reminds me of those WC3 mods from a few years back, which I never got into.

In the current version, this includes 220 points in conquest pass. If you are not planning to achieve that, feel free to do whatever like as long as it can fulfill your goal.

He's also a pain to kill due to his defence medals What is your general composition and medal loadouts? Also I think Hartmann is more dangerous than Goring because of his air raids ignore AA.
