So I’m done. The trickiest level is by far 2-4. The other ones I came legitimately close to losing were 2-1 and 6-1. In 6-1 you need a bit more caution than just recklessly charging forwards but that’s about it. The rest isn’t really that hard, but it’s not as easy as the campaign since you don’t get to use the broken guys like Motonari and Masamune.

Just noticed that old Ieyasu has slightly better stats than young Ieyasu. Not that that makes up for it though. Pretty much the only use case for Spirit of Mikawa in conquest is if you can’t prevent someone like Nobunaga or Ieyasu himself from nuking you with their actives.

Old Ieyasu doesn't seem worth using for conquests, the obvious use case is Martial Arena where both his active and static advantage come into play.

This is probably gonna be a pretty hot take, but I’m starting to think that artillery just sucks in this game. For nearly everything. Except for certain niche cases or in the very early game in Campaign and Tenkabito if you have access to that. For conquest I certainly think it sucks outside of the very late stage. It feels overspecialized for one purpose but has two major weaknesses that prevent it from doing even that properly. It’s slow (unless you have rank 6 Ujiyasu), and more cripplingly it can’t attack from 1 range. That’s a pretty huge deal since it means it can’t disable city healing and attack it at once, and action economy is so limited in the short term. You can’t have tons of ashigarus out by then. I find myself attacking cities with archers and teppo generals from 1 range a LOT just to disable city healing. I can often oneshot the city behind the garrison like that. Teppo (and the other unit types too) also has several generals that has an active that can fairly reliably take out the garrison WITHOUT using ending their turn.
And then it’s the most expensive and least available unit type in the game to boot. So anytime you’re not using it specifically to do damage to city walls it’s just feels cost-inefficient. And you can barely ever use it in campaign. Also has ANYONE ever used Furanki Cannon, like ever?
Ujiyasu comes out really late now and Sorin is only used if I’m going for turncount, which I haven’t done very much lately anyway. It’s not 100% useless, I know I used Ujimasa early on when I started, so it was probably helpful then (his availability being very likely helps). But I definetly don’t think it’s good overall, and it probably doesn’t help that it feels like ET has basically forgotten that it is a unit type in this game, well, except by starting to put 1-3 range on the bosses in Martial Arena.

I only half agree. Regular cannons are pretty much only good for the cleanup phase in conquests, but I think Hojo and Sorin on their special units are a lot better than you're giving them credit for. Maxed Hojo is fast and Sorin with a decent horse isn't slow, and both (especially Hojo) hit like a truck - Hojo does minimum 800 and maximum over 1200 damage to fortifications, that's worth a lot against a level 4 or 5 castle. Hojo hits pretty hard against units too and his active is decent, while Sorin's in conquest is even better. They aren't effective on their own but you shouldn't use them on their own.

The cost and feasibility of using them like that though. Especially at the start. I pretty much have to give up on spawning Masamune on the Mounted Teppo like that. And I’ve never found myself better off by spawning the DoP first. So forget about those. The only viable units are the Odzutsu Cannon and the Ballista. Both have the problem that factories are less common and more expensive to build than other unit camps and they’re still arguably less cost effective than other generals on ashigaru tier units. That is, unless you have so much firepower already that they can be used almost exclusively to blast cities, and mobility is a larger limiting factor than almost everything else at that point. And yeah they aren’t good on their own, most generals aren’t good enough on their own, but they need much more support than other generals since they pretty much outright can’t take a branch city on their own and are less cost effective than most other units EXCEPT when hitting city walls. That’s exactly why they come out so late for me now.

That’s exactly why they come out so late for me now. Masamune is always the first free spawn for me. Regarding cost, they're expensive in terms of knowledge, but comparatively cheap on food, and food is arguably the bigger bottleneck right at the start. Even so, you're right that they're less cost effective except when hitting city walls - but if there's one thing you need to do a lot of in conquest, it's hitting city walls, and being able to do it quickly and effectively will save you turns - potentially crucial turns early on. I think you're exaggerating how much support they need. Their minimum range comes into play when attacking a branch or central castle. In that case they'll one-shot the wall regardless of garrison (which your other generals aren't guaranteed to do), and then if the garrison survives your supporting units can move next to it and hit without the wall. I really don't see where the need for additional support comes in. The only real drawback is that they're bad at holding a city, but pair them with a good melee general and that's not a problem.

The new Martial Arena is far and away the toughest to date. The second guy hits super hard and is incredibly tanky, I wondered if there's some trick with the "rain prayers" but they're also very tanky. Made it to the third level once and couldn't figure out how you're supposed to beat it, targeted one guy but couldn't get him below 1 health and then he just healed while I was fighting the other guy.

I also find myself having food as my bottleneck. Not always but usually either food or knowledge is. There is a stage that I have extra gold, I usually build stables and factories around my border in order to take unprotected castles in the following round. Most castles are within the range of artillery fire and horse movement. I never build any artillery earlier than this stage tho.

I usually use the retainers as quickly as I can though since they give a factionwide bonus, which means that they get proportionally more valuable than any induvidual special units over time, but even early on I find that Musha Bugyo usually saves me a couple actions more than what a single artillery general can do at the start. I mean you CAN'T only hit city walls, you have to clear out stuff too.
I also don't really think it makes sense to pin food as a bottleneck since all the resources can be traded for each other, but at different rates. Pound for pound knowledge is the most valuable resource out there, as the only way to turn gold into knowledge is through colleges and those usually take way too long to pay off imo. The only times I struggle with food is when I haven't expanded fast enough, and that's early enough that I might restart and reconsider my approach.
I mean, it's 171 knowledge to do that with DoP, that's astronomical, and the mortar isn't much better. You start with 170 effectively. That is either several turns without Musha Bugyo (if you haven't maxed valor on Musashi) or like 2-3 swordmasters/elite cavalry/horse archers or whatever special units that's actually good or both (if you have maxed Valor, it almost sucks even more here since 3 guys boosted by Musha Bugyo gets more benefit from it than 1 single super heavy unit). My F2P cav gens on Elite cavs can do like 600-700 on non-crits to walls with Musha Bugyo. Most cities aren't lv 5 at the start so that's more than good enough.
There's probably tons more reasons I don't like early artillery, but I'm not gonna go into that anymore. I guess it might be worthwhile if your other gens are too weak, but I still didn't like it before either.

I would just like to ask which general in Shogan Great Conqueror 2 has the ability elusive agility. I was checking which general should I give it to but can't find any general that that has that skill.
And conquest mode is so fun when playing the strong clans. Especially in Challenge Mode where I can use all sorts of strategies for the most efficient way to obtain more power and make everyone kneel. I am almost done with Challenging mode in Battles in Owari and The Resurfacing of Chaos. But am quite sad that you can only get 2 completed armor sets in the game. Like I would have gotten 90% of all armor sets if not for the missing armor sets locked through a paywall.
Lastly can someone who as paid to get Oda Nobunaga please show the skills and the art of the Demon King skin. I Keep trying to find it online but can seem to find one with the skin and the skills description. I'm just morbidly curious, pls some show me. I am dying to know.

What do you mean, those cannon are the soul reason why castle aren't a problem any more. You just need one max out war gear of your choice and a general like Hojo Ujiyasu, Hojo Ujimasa, and Otomo Sorin, and your good to go against any fortification or castles that is hard to enter. And just a tip for those reading this, for me the best thing to get when your reach a new prestige is always mobility. Like I could take out Oda, Takeda, Uesugi clans easily then I was playing as the Rokkaku clan cuz I was able to taking castles and positioning troops in key points thank to the increase of mobility. It especially helped cuz before each clan would respond to my attacks, I was able to take 2-3 castles in one turn. And it also helped that I got one war gear and the general Hojo Ujiyasu to take care of the level 4-5 castles that would slow my advance to take more land. I didn't even need summon other general except for Kinoshita Hideyoshi, I need his mobility and active skill to take care of defense and offense attacks against the enemies main force.
