5 months and 2 days of playing and I almost completed formation of my "budget" team. I unlocked Malinovsky yesterday and will get the last milestone reward in the next couple of days. At first my intention was to reward myself for repeating this (rather monotonous ) process by purchasing one of the new cool generals (possibly Brooke or Yamaguchi), but, hey, the second-rate generals are also a fun to play with so, let it be so. I tried to avoid a "baby-faced assassin" Neonen at all costs, but since he is almost a synonym of the word "budget" in WC4 dictionary, I give up. Now here it is my final team. I only plan to get Mountbatten and that is pretty much all. I don't believe that more generals are needed. Now it is time to dig deep and to get them ready for new challenges ahead. So I see koenig in the roster and fondly remember our discussion about him! How did you end up using him? On RPG, medic, or something else?

Well, if we talk about "budget" Infantry generals then our options are rather limited But he's better than I expected. Maybe it's because of RPG, - a very good unit for an Infantry general. But now, when I have Malinovsky, Koenig will command Hawkeyes.

The final milestone reward is in the pocket! I did it not because of IV (not sure which general in my current team will profit from using it) but mainly because of my assumption that we'll get fragments of Typhoon and Mi-24 as next milestone rewards after 1950 is released. And these units are going to make a life of any player a lot easier. Especially Typhoon. Just imagine deploying it in Pearl Harbor defence mission on hard Just a child's play... "After gods invented Typhoon there's no more Fuchidas in the world" But the tricky part is that it is close to impossible to get these units as a f2p without being rewarded with their fragments here and there.

I have Rundstedt, Mac, Yamashita, Malinovsky and Simo. I dont have Koenig but I do like him, though not for Hawkeye. I still have Wainright which is a reward, but am considering dropping him and Schmidhuber for Arnold. (Losing both Chennault and Dowding early, as Romania '43 stretched the challenge to 41 rds for me)
With so many Conquest Challenges (20 for '43?), the Mi-24, Typhoon, (not including the two elite carriers) and the upcoming Cold War update, I have a feeling I will always find where to use 4 land/air commanders.
As far as Stoic on Brooke, I have him and use him now more than Leeb and one of my top arty along with Konev and Kluge. His IV skill allows me to put him on a superrocket/arty and get additional damage perk. Great for those starter units and allows you time to place perked Konev on an elite.

Not a very "budget" solution if you ask me ET promised us new silver tier generals, so, I'd better wait. But at the moment I don't use more than 3 field Infantry generals and I converted Rundstedt into a financier thanks to his 2 free slots. Not even sure I need more Infantry generals. Yet, ET promised us a new "unprecedented" Infantry mechanics. No clue what does it mean, but perhaps something interesting and worth trying... Or not

When were you first able to beat the 1-star challenges on normal difficulty? With what generals?
Someone was trying to start off with Hoth, and he was stuck in rescue ally 4 due to not enough damage. He has Hoth and Konev beside the 3 freebies.

He has Hoth and Konev beside the 3 freebies. Quite certain that it was within the first week, but I already had several good generals after 4-5 days of playing. In addition to Bastico and Konev I already had Rundstedt, Mikava and Pavlov (I unlocked him on day 3).

Not particularly difficult. Most missions are pretty straightforward. Moreover on hard we usually have better positions than on normal difficulty. "New unprecedented Infantry mechanics" at first glance seems to be a complete trash Mine main concern was how to hide my Engeneers not how to use them actively And, unfortunately, we don't get any fragments of Mi-24 or Typhoon.

I agree, hard was easier the normal🙂 But battle of Berlin hard was a bloodbath...

I agree, hard was easier the normal🙂 But battle of Berlin hard was a bloodbath... I noticed that friendly AI made a lot of mistakes on normal difficulty in Eastern Prussia, so on hard I decided to help it with all my available forces first. I quickly disabled Guderian, destroyed the Fortress and together with AI-commanded units steamrolled Berlin.

Yet another easy 3* event. Even with my "budget" team I haven't experienced any troubles at all. So, players with Guderian, Brooke, Yamaguchi and such (I don't even speak about p2w generals) may find it rather boring. I think ET should put more efforts into it to make these endgame events challenging for endgame players. Otherwise I don't see too many reasons for releasing more and more powerful generals. What is the point to purchase Manstein if you can complete these events with Pavlov?

There's the trend of conquering the map in defensive events with the extra firepower and I think after a few repetitions of the events, people just want to complete them as fast as possible or with minimal effort. To be honest, I haven't seen anyone else who has gone further than limiting themselves to non-IAPs. Maybe people don't look for extra hard challenges in their spare time but rather want to feel God-like power, killing everything with one attack:)
