1778 (We The People)
The Thirteen Colonies : US
Notes
PROS
The US is the best nation for 1778 speed running. One with skill can get the mystical princess Lan from this conquest under 25 turns.
They have good generals as well (Washington and Jackson are good gens) while Dearborn is meh on Cav
Has the best starting economy for 1778.
Dearborn is extremely fast
CONS
Non-existent fleet. Cannot counter the huge threat of Collingwood and Howe or the Spanish and Dutch fleets (unless you can seize their farms quickly as mentioned by Erich von Manstein)
Slow units and some bad gens (Greene and Navy gen on arty)
Prone to direct assault by Indians and hard to counter without good generals
Overall : Good gens needed if you want Lan
Difficulty: EASY
Indians
Notes
Pros
Well spread out so can access most enemies.
Has CORNPLANTER!!! Can beat Washington
Has Initial superiority against nearby enemies
Cons
Abysmal Economy: Cannot recruit gens into decent units
Only one good gen while the others are outmatched and outclassed, even Outranked
NO NAVY makes it impossible for speed running
Initial superiority quickly wears off
Well spread out means it is prone to attack due to locations
Difficulty: Medium/Hard
Overall: Weak but has potential
Great Britannia
Notes
Pros
Has superior navy over all enemies (except France)
Collingwood and Howe placement perfect for sabotaging US main economy
Okay Gens
Can Storm initial position with ease
Can speedrun for Lan
Cons
No direct access to Russia or France, who will be a thorn
Enemy navies flee to the furthest part of the map so then becomes impossible for Speed running, unless you intercept them
Needs to Save Spain and German allies quickly
Average economy
Ducksworth is not great on Arty
Overall: 2nd best nation for 1778 and great for speedrunning
Difficulty : EASY
Hesse
Notes
Pros
Good starting base for attack on US
Emil has Architecture which is beneficial
Can Strike twofold into US (Jackson and Washington)
Can Recruit 4 generals
Cons
Not a great economy, needs improvement immediately
Weak Gens overall
Cannot access Spain or Indians immediately so no speedrunning
No navy and weak protection from navy and direct assault
Wurmb cannot stand against Washington or Jackson
Difficulty: Medium/Hard
Overall: Only worthwhile when gaining some influence first like taking some cities
Russia
Notes
Pros
Decent gen
Can appoint 5 gens
Initial Advantage over England
Can help France
Direct access to Indians and Spain
Cons
Bad economy
Only one Gen on land
Only landlocked navy so no speedrunning
Cannot reach US directly so cannot influence early in game
Cannot stand against enemy navies
Takes a while to reach US's Aid
Overall : Good conquest for farming but nothing else. If only Jean-Luc Picard was there
Difficulty :Hard
Spain
Notes
Pros
One route makes it a potential for speed-run
Decent navy but still can't win against Treville and Verhuell
Decent Land gens
Good Economy
Can employ 6 gens and still be formidable
Facing all minor enemies (except France)
Cons
One route makes it hard to take down
Cannot stand against Treville and Verhuell
Takes a while to Reach Philadelphia
Still bad economy compared to US
France and Russia are strong enemies at the start
Overall: This conquest has some potential for Speed running but still needs skill to finish
Difficulty : For Speed run - HARD For Farming and normal pace: Easy/Medium
