I think this should be the Saltingrad story:
Saltingrad War- Part 1
In the 1990s, our previous king decided to annex the nearby Island of Saltingrad (which explains how Saltingrad is the King's territory). The move was supported by the populace, who already had a refrendum. Thus the Island was anschlussed with no harm. However, this sparked a reaction by another Power.
In 1993, the foreign power invaded, using their navy to blockade Saltingrad and shell it. The garrison commander, Brigadier
Ivan Kolev , ordered the construction of dugouts and an island-wide network of trenches to resist shelling and a possible attack.
Colonel
Laurent de Gouvion was the first to recieve news of the attack and woke the president along with the Chiefs of Staff. Orders are dispatched to Fleet Admiral
Napoleon Bonaparte to break the blockade and send a relief force immidiately.
Sherman defended the Island in savage fighting, using every advantage the Island offered and wore down the enemy with defense in depth. The foreign navy still refused to give battle.
The lucky break came on New Year's Eve 1994, where a certain ship,
Enterprise,commanded by Captain
Jean-Luc Picard found the foreign navy after a night of partying. However, Picard did not escape and sought to use the situation to his advantage.
Picard contacted Admiral
Frederick the Great , the leader of the closest squadron. They planned to trap the fleet, with the
Enterprise as bait. The foreign fleet soon gave chase to Picard's ship.
With a combination of smoke, radar jammers, and brilliant navigation, Picard drew the enemy fleet into the trap. What followed was a battle in which the enemy navy was destroyed as a whole, some ships also captured.
A relief force was soon sent to Saltingrad. With the new reserves, Sherman planned to cut the foreign line of retreat, a coast which the Navy hadn't covered. This was succesful, and the force was cut off and surrendered.
As a result,
Napoleon Bonaparte was next-in-line for Chief of the Armed Forces and was given an award. The same happened to
Frederick the Great , as he became
Napoleon Bonaparte 's protege. Picard was raised to Commodore and put in the Chief of the Navy's staff.
Ivan Kolev was given a Barony for his deeds in defense of Saltingrad and quickly raised through the army ranks. St. Cyr was assigned from being Colonel of a garrison to serving in the General Staff.
However, the war had not ended.
Saltingrad War- Part 2The foreign power was determined to stand to the death. They funded separatist groups and committed many terrorist attacks. The General Staff thought that invasion was impossible, due to the lack of men. This all changed in May 1994, when a wave of bombing happened in the capital. Foreign-funded forces took control of the Palace. Fortunately, police under
Stonewall Jackson succesfully stopped the forces from taking other buildings. A squad under Major
Quintus Fabius stormed the building with help of the Police.
Stonewall Jackson also contained the bombing damage.
The Navy was then ordered to sink or capture any transports coming to the foreign power, effectively blockading them. There was a daring raid on the enemy's main port, led by Commodorre@dukeofwellington. This effecively isolated the enemy. Bombing raids also went on daily on the capital and major cities. Major General of the Air Force
Yi Sun Sin led an attack on the main enemy airfield, gaining air superiority. The enemy did not surrender.
The conventional warfare was not enough. The General Staff spent days planning. This changed when Special Agent
Quintus Fabius , the man who had stormed the Palace, approached
Laurent de Gouvion with a plan: to overthrow the government in a coup.
Quintus Fabius was sent there in a potato sac by a supposed merchant ship. He allied with many factions, putting them apart against each other. He also bribed gangs to create anarchy. There was also a slush fund to the Police and Military. Many propaganda channels were made in the media.
At the right moment, it was part of the plan to overthrow the government. 4th Squadron under Major General of the Air Force
Yi Sun Sin transported troops to the foreign capital. The 14th Infantry Regiment under Colonel
Tito succesfully seized the foreign President.
The government was overthrown and a pro-Empire government was created.
