Now, now. Let's get back to analysing or debating about gens in the vanilla version of EW4. This ensures that readers will not be confused about the sudden appearance of certain members or extra historical figures appearing as gens.
Let the line above^^ demarcate the point where the discussions about gens exclusive to / modified in mods will end. Okay?
If you really want to exclusively discuss about the gens in mods, you can either make a new thread here or in the Gaming Mods board.

As for whether or not surprise also multitasks as a rumor type skill, I doubt it as formation nor explosives donβt affect morale. But if it does, then the skill would be pretty good That's my question - have we overseen the primary benefit of surprise (compare to formation and explosives)? The ingame skill description is 'increases the effect of charge...'.

The game should be more clear in skills and add more info about them. They also add a skill section so you know all the skills and there traits like a encyclopedia.

ET's games are to explore - without the information of this forum unnecessary hard to figure all out. The funny thing is, that the description of surprise is pretty exact: " Can increase effect of charge [ ... ]". It looks like nobody believed this - we just focus here in the forum on the increase of max attack. - If this skill really raises your chance to lower the morale, this skill is much more worth than explosives and specifically formation (IMO explosives works for Artillery but also for Forts and Navy).

I agree. Formation is eh. Like I am using Maria and she is embarassingly bad haha.

Maybe formation should have had increase morale to counter Calvary.

The assumption that artillery damage skills work also on navy and forts looks logical, since all shoot with cannons. But i doubt it and itβs the first time I read it.

Would be cool though, maybe explosives could be in the naval and called "naval bombardment" and forts can be "defensive blast."

Please don't fix me on that(explosives) In game is written 'increase artillery - and isn't there a skill for ships? - but not for forts ...... I don't knowMy point was the incredible surprise.

Probably not, explosives is a green skill so I believe it only works for Artillery. I don't know though, needs more investigating.

Unfortunately you canβt count on the ETβs descriptions. Ex Siege Master - βEnhance fighting ability against troopsβ. Actually it deprives building evasion.
