Hi, I plan to get a second cavalry general in addition to Dumouriez/Lan. I read on this forum and went through the genarals list and came up with Golitsyn or Berthier. For me, Golitsyn is pure cavalry while Berthier is extra effort but also highly versatile (trading stars, artillery stars). When comparing their respective cavalry abilities, both can be trained to the same level of damage and movement. My question is do I really need Berthier's versatility? Are there any campaign missions where I need him as fast artillery? Am I missing something that I didn't think of? .org/image/tw31yy4y5/] .org/image/txi50ocel/]

Golytsin as Isabela has four training stars and giving golytsin a few move trainers is cheaper then training berthier. I myself have Golytsin.

It's your second cav general, right? Then Berthier it is. You'll still have Dumouriez, which is good enough to pass most campaigns. Berthier's edge isn't versatility, but his Geography skill. If you don't know already, stars can be upgraded. This'd make Berthier a real good cav gen. An upgraded Berthier (mine): .org/image/e8al0mi49/]

Berthier vs Golitsyn........ Berthier is 10 thousand times better than Golitsyn(when trained). Its not cuz of the business and artillery stars, its cuz of geography. With a trained Berthier, you can beat any campaign with five stars.I don't have him,but I have seen both.Berthier is better than Golitsyn only because of Geography. But is better.

Cavalry units have a basic movement of 8 (9 heavy and 10 light cav).
I think that Golitsyn with 5 movement stars and the items war horse and quality saddle can move 5 tiles (8+2+5 and "geography" from war horse).
Berthier already has Geography so with 2 quality saddles he has (8+2+2+5=17) still a range of 5 fields. If that's right then his Geography skill only profits his artillery role.?

Berthier fits Heavy/Light Cavalry, without that he's Golitsyn with 3*training.

An upgraded Berthier (mine): judging from this picture I guess you never used him on artillery (still 4 stars). My thought was that Sophia could be on a ship (rumors are some SNS missions require lots of navy) and Berthier could take her job and he can move further than her thanks to Geography.

Isabela would do fine as Arty.

It also said the maximum you can move is 5 fields. True? EDIT: this is from the starting guide .org/image/4yflmfr0d/]

You have 4 slots, right? I like to have, when with 4 slots: Lan (Cav) Isabela (Art) Sophia (Art, also Inf/Nav) One more. Since Golitsyn has 5* and Berthier has 1, I pick Golitsyn. If you don't really like Artillery, you can have Lan (Cav, also Navy) Isabela (Art) Berthier (Cav, also Art) Dobeln (Inf)
I like the former better, since it has a fort cracker and 2 artillery mains, but the latter is valid

And wouldn't Victoria make a suitable replacement for Dobeln?
