I'm new to EW4 and just found this forum. I see there are a lot of discussions about infantry and artillery generals, but I was wondering about good cavalry generals. Is Murat or Paget worth the cost if a few emblems, or should I get Bennigsen from tier 2? Thanks.

At the same time Murat is also very good and is extremely useful for the cases when a lot of forts is a problem. But the best Academy general is Lasalle. He is also tier 3 general, as well as Murat and Paget.

I can maybe justify to myself spending 5 bucks to get 5 emblems to get a 6 emblem general, but if Lasalle costs 8 emblems I would have to spend more real money. Just not sure...

Here's a list of generals with some cavalry ability. Lan comes to the top of my list. Since I do not pay real money for emblems, Ney comes in second because of his Spy skill. Golitsyn is another great cavalry general that everyone loves but if you have a lot of medals to spend, Berthier is better. And if you are willing to spend real money, Lasalle is one of the best cavalry general.

Thanks kanue. I've got the medals, I could keep searching for golitsyn or berthier in the acadamy but that is so hit or miss and takes time to get to the point where I can shuffle the tier. I don't like ghe idea of spending so much for an IAP, but truth is I'm getting impatient. paget and dombrowski are sitting in tier 3, so I'm considering real money for emblems.

It's worth waiting untill the right general appears.
The best way to do this is to do medal farming tactic because you get lots of kills that way and that makes the generals recycke much faster.

My top 2 premium favorites Lassale,Murat but lan is free and just as good. If you dont have many slots unlocked Davout is a good hybrid choice he is equally effective in cavalry as in artillery but usually better to just get pure non hybrid generals.

I use Radetzky and Golitsyn although Radetzky is emblems only. Golitsyn is hitting just as hard as Radetzky though, even without items so he is probably your best bet for non premium.

Berthier is Golitsyn with Geography. So if you have a lot of medals to train him then he's better. He is also a good business general who can run in and out town fast. Anyway, I still prefer Ney because of his Spy skill.

Though asking for info is quick and effective but I think you might find that trying things out by yourself can be fun too. At least you get the information first hand. Anyway, back to the topic... 1) If you are willing to pay real money, Laselle is a super good cavalry general. Too bad that he is not available in conquest for you to try. But don't worry, Dombrowski is a good cavalry general too. 2) Oudinot with snare drum is one of the best infantry general in term of fire power. But as you mention, he is slow. A +2 movement boot can help to get him move 3 hex on guard infantry but that together with snare drum will take up all of his item slots. In my opinion, I prefer Dobeln. 3) Sophia is a fantastic artillery general. She is one of my main general line-up. Train her to 5 stars in artillery and she will be a monster to all forts. If you plan to let her command heavy artillery or siege artillery then you might consider adding 1 more star (to a total of 4 stars) in movement. This will let her move 3 hex on plain. 4) I prefer Ney to Benningsen. Spy skill is sooo valuable because you will find that forts are annoying. Beside these 2, Golytsin and Berthier are good tier 2 cavalry generals too. 5) You may want to leave some room for princesses. They are strong, especially Isabela, Lan, and Victoria.

Historically, Murat was really a magician with cavalry, while Suvorov is a reïncarnation of Harry Potter but then with onfantry. If Napoleon had Joachim Murat (also his brother-in-law) instead of Ney during the battle of Waterloo, the battle could have been given a different outcome... Marshal Ney didn't destroy the artillery (which was really easy).

Or if they didn't have Grouchy. "Grouchy! Pursue the Prussians!" 1 week later Grouchy is hopelessly lost in Prussian territory. Napoleon is getting shreked at Waterloo and needs reinforcements. Where is Grouchy? Dead. Killed by Blucher.
