In progress!
Some people have shown interest in the commanders idea for an RP, so this is a test run. If this succeeds, expect a full-fledged RP. Phases are 6 months, spanning from 1810 to 1812.
"the eyes of the fleet.”
-Horatio Nelson on the role of the Frigate
Since the victory at Trafalgar, the Royal Navy reigns supreme in the seas, barring one aspect: frigates. French frigates in the Adriatic and Mauritius harass British shipping and hold their own against the French. Nelson himself puts it perfectly before the Nile:
"Was I to die this moment, 'Want of Frigates' would be found stamped on my heart. No words of mine can express what I have, and am suffering for want of them."
Now, we need a minimum of 4 players, recommended 6.

SMS Arminius (Iberian Coast) - Kapitänleutnant Alaric Lothar Steiner
The roles of First Lord of the Admiralty and French Naval Minister are held by the GM until more than 8 players sign up. They are responsible for handing promotions, positioning navies, all those governy things it Alt-Hist.
Note: please use date format if you wish to duel/coordinate with other players. Test run can be delayed if players do not want to commit yet. Character info can be added in as the game goes by.
A bit of information on the roles of a Lieutenant at sea:
Lieutenants were responsible for standing watches, i.e. taking routine command of the deck when the ship was at sea with responsibility for maintaining discipline and navigation, had overall command of a particular mast during setting and taking in sail, commanded a battery of guns in action and had overall responsibility for the welfare of a section of the crew. They would also oversee particular evolutions such as taking in stores or weighing anchor. Lieutenants might also be given command of smaller unrated vessels such as brigs and cutters when they would be addressed by the courtesy title of captain.
Said smaller unrated vessels are often "prizes" taken in battle.
Some expectations (could be said as rules) for the players:
1. Realistic naval combat. I expect a roll to find a ship, another to sail, another on gunnery, and another on boarding if it happens when you try to capture a ship.
2. Keep in character. Separate player from character.
3. Regular RP rules apply (salt, Godmodding, etc.)
