Laurent de Gouvion, Ricard the Scot would be reasonable, if thats fine. Have to make a character sheet.... And your send-off to Bolitho was great. Sean Bean was Sharpe right? My character is not exactly as old, but whatever. Richard the Scot is to Bolitho what that Irishman was to Sharpe.

Character Creation
Name: Richard Surname: Wallace Bruce Fairbairn. Age: 40s? Sex (note that you can be a woman in disguise): Mulan Male.
Character Information, divided into three parts:
I. Appearance and Personality: Craggy old Scot.
II. Strengths and Weaknesses: Due to his life and basic physique, he is fairly strong. Knows his way around firearms better than swords but knows a little of both. Is pretty darn stubborn.
III. Background: Born to the trade, he has spent his life in the Navy or as a simple sailor. Like the famous Sharpe he is loyal to the British Navy as the only thing he knows.
Currently an old hand, he has been promoted to Second Lieutenant, which is a surprising change for his type.
Thaats it for now I guess.

Edit: me being a mere Frigate but Rowley's force is there.

You could RP the assault or go after the escaping French.

Battle of "Isle de France"
Plans put in motion years ago come to their conclusion. The Royal Navy, strongest arm of Britain, is ready to land another blow to Napoleon's Empire.
Rowley's forces secure the seas, and prepare to support the assault. It is imperative that the conquest succeeds before hurricane season settles in.
Richard Fairbairn, called Richard the Scot by his crew, is promoted to Second Lieutenant in a surprising event, particularly for an old seadog. He mourns ever so briefly for the previous lieutenant, Bolitho, and prepares for the assault.
As a member of the Naval brigade, Richard will follow the Grenadiers and elite Rifles of the British Army into action on the Island. Nearly 7,000 men are ready.
Supported by ships bristling with guns, the British land. Rolling for enemy resistance, maximum of 5.

The French were awake, but ultimately did not give battle....on the shore. The Land Forces, led by fellow Scot John Abercromby, advance.
The Vanguard of the British column, along with Richard, march on Fort Malartic. *maximum of 6 for the enemy to resist.
The French abandon the fort. Their numbers are a few hundred regulars, and perhaps some of their very numerous militia. Rolling for whether the fast advancing British can catch up with them.
The Vanguard rushes the French retreaters, who prepare to stand. The frontline British outnumber the regulars a couple times over, but the Militia might even it out. Which is of little import due to their inexperience and low morale. Plus likely poor equipment.
Rolling how the first contact goes. Few naval men in this one.
The French front falls to the quick assault of British riflemen. Rolling for whether we can capture/murder their entire force.
I'll say we capture the majority of their force.
After this victory, the British encamp for the night. Richard spends some time etching a emblem, then goes to sleep. Not much to do out here, no wenches. ···········

Now it is time for us to get out of here before the British attack us. The Sirius is brought alongside us, and we attempt to sail away from Ile de France without being spotted by the British. (Need a 16 for the ships to escape undetected.) BNQNIjaR
We end up being spotted by two British vessels, but we at least have time to get in position before firing on them. Rolling for fire damage. Ours:
Theirs:
They end up doing more damage to us than we do to them, but we are still able to sail on without overly much damage. We turn and fire one more volley off at them before we leave. Rolling for damage.
We finally catch a break, dealing them some moderate damage without suffering much ourselves. And with this, we finally turn and sail away from Ile de France before more British can come for us.

Alright, let's start up a new phase! A bolt of lighting strikes the Arminius. Lieutenant Alaric Steiner gets hit in the chest and dies. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Matthew Harmon slipped during one of the actions, and is now relieved from duty. Due to the French players' daring escape from Mauritius ( Antonio Santa Anna, The Spanish Inquisition, best75) they are all promoted to Captain, inducted into the Legion of Honor, and are invited to a ball in Paris. Lieutenant Alicio Burgess is made Captain and attends an event at Rear Admiral Harmon's home ( Von Bismarck jr). Second Lieutenant Richard is promoted Commander and is invited on a hunt ( Imperial RomeBall). Your ship designations will change. For now, bask on yer promotions.
