I don't mind them making artillery more of a "glass canon" type unit, but if they are going to do that, they need to make them hit a little harder. Artillery don't hit much harder than tanks of equal level, and tanks get more than double the health. Makes it hard to talk yourself into artillery, particularly when heavy tanks are available and artillery lose range advantage. It feels like howitzers in particular have lost value. They used to pack more of a punch in WC3. So we need to revise our good ol' howitzer spam?

The problem with the healing skills in general is that they don't give you enough HP to make a big difference. I will say that if you put a general with a max healing skill in a city with a field hospital, the HP adds up. More than 30 per round.

What happens if, for example, 3 tank generals have it? If it is a team skill, - then it is more than possibble to substitute Blitzkrieg with this one...

I tested by playing SU 1943 and attack with heavy tank so it gets damaged and leaving Chuikov next to it. The heavy tank dos not get attacked and the heavy tank has same hp as it did next turn.

I guess Machinist skill is just WC3 Supply that only works on tank and artillery. I'd say it's not so useful in Campaigns but can be good in Conquests where the game lasts longer.

Machinist and Relacements are equivalent to supply. I don't find them particularly useful even in conquests. It might have some use on an infantry general who can spend time in a field hospital and them have he mobility to rejoin the attack, but you are better off with tank generals who avoid hits with Blitzkrieg and artillery generals who stay a step back from the front.

I think we still need to wait till the cold war comes out before we can judge their usefulness in conquests. Back in WC3, most of the damage my tank generals take comes from nuke/missiles. Supply and Tide of Iron/Barrage are my bread n butter skills for my generals in WC3 conquests. Need to wait and see our quality of life in Nuclear era of WC4.

Well one thing I know from using nukes in 1943 conquests is that they don't hit nearly as hard because stacked heavy tanks/super tanks have so much health.

Question: Is Auchinleck a good long term general? He could be a 5* general with leader skill.

Question: Is Auchinleck a good long term general? He could be a 5* general with leader skill. I don't think so. Sure he can be upgraded to 5 star tank and has explosives and panzer leader but he's still missing that 6th star and he's bronze tier so you cant add any skills. You could just replace Auchinleck with any other tank general from the gold tier who will work better

In fact I was just thinking about making a Leeb vs Govorov thread. Govorow has that 6th star but the fact that Leeb can be upgraded to higher movement and his skil set could make him better than Govorov.
