You get four generals for most scenarios on normal mode. I'm generally using two tank generals, one artillery and a wild card depending on the mission.

There are a lot of medals available. You can put medals on two tank generals. I've got medals on Manstein boosting Panzer Leader, Armored Assault and Plain Fighting. Guderian is going to get medal boosting Blitzkrieg. He won't hit quite as hard as Manstein, but he will still be a beast. Does this actually mean that you will throw away all medals for infantry?

No. Yamashita with medal boosts is going to get some use. He is solid.

soonerjbd I agree on most of your points and I'll go thru it when I'll have more time to see what to add to my valuation and what needs more information😉

We will need to consider 6 generals for hard mode. Should the lineup be 3 tank, 2 artillery, and 1 navy for sea missions and 3 tank, 3 artillery for land based missions? Even with the medals I don't think infantry has its placed in campaign, think the place for infantry general is in certain domination mode missions.

But let's face the truth: WC4 is not EW5. Infantry is objectively weaker in WC...

It depends on the mission for hard mode. On some of the naval missions like Tora Tora Tora, I used one tank general and five naval generals. On Guadalcanal, I used two naval generals. Sometimes you are also better off putting generals on starting units because it will take too long to farm the resources for stronger tanks. This is why it sometimes makes sense to use Yamashita. If you start with a commando, for example, and it is going to be a while to build a good tank or rocket artillery.

For land based missions, if I have the resources, I'll go four tank, two artillery.

Work best with tank & Artillery This is a good point. I usually pair my tank general with an artillery general and let them work together to take down cities. Rocket artillery is crowd control and whittles them down for one-shots from tank commander. In conquests, I'll pair two tank generals with two artillery generals. I let my last two tank generals freelance either with some support from the particular nation's starting generals or to give support to one of my starting tank/artillery combos in a tough area. Usually send Rommel to North Africa with a handful of medium tanks. He can take it down by himself.

I did that all the time. With tanks up on fronts and rockets artillery at the back, surely the enemies won't stand a chance.

Made updates to include silver level generals. Also slightly revised ratings, bumping up a couple of naval commanders to reflect their utility in later game exercises and battles in Domination mode, where there are a lot of naval missions. As always, input and discussion is welcome.

Great input! Thnx a lot for sharing your experience. In the end as best75 stated above we want to try to find the final settup of generals so we don’t waste too much medals on not important generals. Ofc we cannot say this atm since not full game Is released. Nevertheless, you can ofc try to share your thought on a good set off generals (lets say indeed 3 tank, 3 artillery, 2 naval/air and 1 infantery geberal) without the iap generals that are in your opinion will be the best for now. And ofc next we can think of what skills should be added. Sincerely

I think the more tanks we have the better, since Blitzkrieg is too OP right now. The following is for non-IAP: Tank: Guderian because it’s him, the rest are from Rokossovsky(output), Montgomery(supportive), Graziani(meat shield) and Rommel(between Rokossovsky and Graziani). Yes so basically all gold tanks except Patton are good. Vatutin or even Bock if you’re in an instant medal crisis. Artillery: Konev for sure, Leeb for the next, last one... Alexander or Zhang? Infantry: Rundstedt is good enough, I’ll see if there’s cheaper alternative. Maybe the good old general Zhu?? Navy: Kuznetsov and Fletcher are nice picks, Halsey if you want those two together. Yamamoto, Nimitz and Donitz are top. Air: Arnold and Dowding ofc. Rundstedt and Montgomery also have great potential.
