I didn't realize this before, but different countries get different "super ships." I'd seen some super subs in exercises, but I had not seen the American supercarriers. They aren't that great, really. They are better against stronghold units but actually worse against ships. I have not finished this battle yet. It's intimidating in its sheer scope.

These super ships can only be built in lvl 4 ports by their specific countries. I have not seen any lvl 4 ports in the current lvls so it looks like they only come pre deployed for now. The only countries I know that have super ships are USA, Japan, UK , and Italy

You can build them for your "Legion" to be used in some exercises and battles once you reach level 30. Sometimes it will let you use them. Other times not. Depends on the specific battle. You can't upgrade ports in conquests like you can factories and airports, though, which I find a little odd. I haven't had a conquest last long enough for my tech to reach the level where I could upgrade to level IV factory, but it appears it can be done. Not sure why the same system couldn't be used for ports.

This battle is ridiculously hard. Deployed my entire navy. I turned the north end of the island to clear a path for my tanks, losing all of my cruisers and a couple of battleships. Took the city after a nasty battle to get a beachhead, only to discover I missed the red circle on the port at the south end of the island. Didn't have the ships or army to take it. That was an expensive mistake.

Thank ET for not being Historically accurate, cuz if Yamashita was here, he'd be annoying us with commandos "hiding" in Nature (eother mountains or forests).

Finally beat it. You have three objectives: destroy Yamamoto in his carrier, take the city and take the port on the south edge of the island. Ditched regular carriers all together. They just don't hit hard enough. I used all three of my supercarriers to take out the coastal artillery on the north end then whittle down the city fortifications. I used 4 super tanks (stacked heavy tanks will work, too). Put Guderian and Manstein in two of the tanks. Deployed all my cruisers, destroyers and subs with Dönitz and Nagumo in stacked cruisers (both with max Rumor ability). I had to slog through the enemy ships on the north end. Once I had a path relatively clear on the north, I moved tanks in. You have to exploit the AI tendency to focus on weaker targets by using destroyers and tanks with land units with no generals as bait while you sneak your generals and cruisers through. AI will take general in heavy tank out of the city to block your landfall. Have to take him out with cruisers and carriers if need be and get your tank generals on dry land. Clear the enemy units offthe island while continuing to use weaker ships to distract enemy navy and pull your cruisers south to take the port. Use tank generals to help clear ships on south end. I'm sure it can be done better. I lost all of my subs and destroyers and two cruisers by the end. All generals survived.

Winning this battle opens the last landmark building, the underground shelter. However, there are more exercises.
Many of the later exercises and battles are heavy on naval engagements. If you want to take them on, you'll need at least two naval generals. My suggestions are Dönitz and Nagumo. Choose Rumor for both. The morale decreases and confusion lockdowns are a godsend. Cruisers are your best friends. The high HP, range and damage means they can take a beating and focus down enemy ships with concentrated fire. Carriers don't hit hard enough to be useful unless you have an air general on them, and frankly I'd rather have a pure naval general with Rumor. The thing about exercises is you don't get any resources even if you take cities, so you want to stick with high HP units that can survive as long as possible.

Sea mines worm like land mines. You can travel across them, you jist can't stop on them.
