Guderian. Investing in guderian can help you complete many parts of the game in order to upgrade guderian, then konev. With both upgraded you can get very far in the game

Well this isn't the same level of skill I think ^^ You don't NEED a navy gen in the Pacific War. Good land gens and tactics can clear the way.

Oh, thank you for your compliment however I feel I'm not a really good narrator, other like Leonid Govorov and Nobunaga Oda, do it better Well everyone here seems to be willing to help newbies like me so for me you are all helpful Anyway, I managed to go through the Pacific Missions (it was actually easier than I thought ^^) but now I'm stuck at the Cold War very first missions :/ I think my generals aren't strong enough, especially Bock

surgeminer, wouldn't hurt to keep Bock as Fedor von Bock would strongly advise haha, just save up for guderian and with guderian and konev you can breeze through cold war easily

Of course, there's no rule without exception, but you will definitely make your life easier if you remember 4 important rules: 1. Armored units win the day. You need at least 3 excellent tank generals and probably 1 mediocre tank general to play a supportive role on a medium tank in some missions (von Bock could be quite efficient in this supportive role, I had Messe but Bock has his advantages). 2. One upgraded general is better than two generals without upgrades. Skills are far more important than anything else in this game. I completed the game without Guderian, and can testify that every upgraded tank general is extremely efficient on the battlefield. Guderian can have 5 excellent skills and exactly this fact alone makes him the best general in the game (including IAP generals). 3. If you have Infantry generals - replace them with someone else. Especially in the Modern war missions Infantry is very vulnerable and even best Infantry generals with medals are inferior to mediocre tank generals without medals. Infantry generals in WC 4 are good for some campaigns and conquests but they haven't a bright future in the Modern war missions. Don't worry about daily missions I personally haven't lost a single Infantry Invasion using upgraded Konev ( european-war-4.boards.net/thread/8352/final-lineup-iap-generals-guderian ) 4. Two admirals can be very helpful in the two of the Modern war missions (including the last one).

Used them for speed runs, and also to prepare for the excercise in the Hudson Bay(so many forests... mannerheim will be content) For me the tank gens I had were the essentials Guderian Rommel and Rokossovsky, but I started out with Vatutin and still kept him. I agree as upgraded tank gens and navy gens rule this game

I agree as upgraded tank gens and navy gens rule this game It is a pity that we can't build an Infantry general as we like it. Even Yamashita hasn't the best possible set of skills not to mention others. I think this peculiarity that all generals except Guderian (and probably Manstein) have some useless or mediocre default skills was a very dubious decision, to say the least. It completely overshadowed a very nice idea (to add new skills which the player himself finds useful).

that is true, but imo its to allow for players to experiment with different general skill combinations instead of relying on one perfect general, and in order to find combinations fast be willing to make iaps. yamashita's ace forces really limit his damage output, as most of the time he doesnt take on troops in my speed runs but instead helps to lower city hp

I conquests it is not such big problem, but in the Modern war missions it is of a crucial importance.
