Interesting that most people chose Imperial Eagle as the toughest campaign.Β I think it could be because there are the most missions (and therefore the most hard missions), but I personally think RoA is the hardest.Β SNS seems hard, but by that time you have good generals and you can get through most missions fairly easily.Β Anyway, I am just going to list a few missions that I thought were quite difficult:
From Imperial Eagle:
Battle of Three Emperors- have to kill a ton of enemy generals with likely no additional generals(becomes trivial with generals like a lot of missions in this campaign)
Leipzig Campaign- the enemy creates a wall of units and Benningsen moves out really late, so tough to get 5 star without pushing through with gens
Coalition Disruption- first have to capture Netherlands then take Berlin, tough to do quickly without good gens
From Coalition:
Really only Battle of Waterloo- taking Paris isn't too difficult with a couple arty gens, but Nancy is blocked by a wall of units making it difficult to get 5*
From Holy Roman Empire:
Battle of Britain- British Generals hit like a truck with high morale and get your gens low, also difficult to take Dublin and kill large fort at end in time
From Eastern Overlord:
(idk why but) Ruins- napoleon regens health and is tough to kill, then taking poznan and killing murat is difficult cause gens are low from napoleon making 5* difficult
From Rise of America:
Revenge of the British- start out with 3 turns of low morale, don't have much, have to kill everything in 12 turns...enough said
Road to Hell- have to take a lot of scattered objectives with few troops
From Sun Never Sets:
Indian's Blood- this one I scraped a 5* just barely with very scrappy tactics of just taking all the objectives using snare drums on my very low generals
Final Battle- tough to clear quickly as you start with nothing but a few units that have to establish a base, take 4 cities, and kill buff Davout and Napoleon in 16 turns
I have gotten to 5 stars in all missions, and I think that RoA is the hardest despite me only putting the 2 hardest on the list.Β In all the missions you are forced to fight with a meager force against superior numbers and power.Β You don't have the same endgame generals that you do with SNS, so it is very challenging.Β I could only 5* all the missions in it once I got good endgame gens.Β The other reason I think RoA is harder than SNS is because with SNS there are a ton of navy missions(I think half or more) that are fairly easy with Kate at a decent lvl.Β I know that a lot of people thought Imperial Eagle was hardest because it is one of the first campaigns and there are more hard missions, but it becomes trivial once you have a couple generals that don't even have to be that good.Β Finally, if anyone is having trouble with any campaign missions, I have one piece of advice: rush objectives, ignore other stuff by blocking with fortsΒ .Β That is just my take on the hardest campaign though as a heavy rusher.
