I would choose these 3: Murat (He is a beast), Davout (Solo-ing he is pretty solid and good), and Lan (Hybrid between Murat and Blucher). If you are IAP, choose Blucher ast well, he is superb.
Dabrosky is also very good, but I see him one step below these 4 guys mentioned above.

There is an old andrei's thread (european-war-4.boards.net/thread/9858/real-gens-comparison). It was established beyond any reasonable doubt that aura generals are not only great team players but also the strongest individual players among his rivals (Just compare Dabrowsi and Davout)

But again, is a matter of personal taste

Inarguably the best skill (attack bonus for a general himself and all units of the same type nearby). 2. Plain fighting. The second best skill. 3. Surprise attack (additional damage bonus up to 20% depending on a distance)?

Paget is a good general, but Ney is cheaper and better than him, while also being an end-game General. Still, Paget is not bad at all. I rate him 4 stars.

Actually I was just thinking what if he is a better starting general than ney. For ney, trade riding master for surprise, both of which are really good, and tactics master for plain fighting. He is a pretty solid starting general honestly.

You will deal huge damage towards artillery and infantry units, way more than Ney

But since I’ve already reached a point in EW6 where I’m fine, I’m focusing now on WC4.

I am steadily improving some of my generals while waiting for the gcr update. I agree, murat is a very strong starting general.

He’s so good that selling him for medals result in a medal loss.

Than there is manuever, that almost never triggers even at 100%

Maneuver only doesn’t trigger because you hardly encounter barriers. But I can imagine those things being annoying.
