I couldnt see any post like that so I decided to create one.Let us share our commander builds. I personally went with Spartacus-but-better build. He has InfCom , Ambush(which makes the difference from Spartacus) , Roar and Shield Wall. I also gave him Laurel Crown for obvious reasons. image bbcode

here’s sir crompey, as you all know who he is, he needs no introduction. Lets fill this post with pictures not word representations to make them easier to analyse. I kind of regret not giving him intercept instead of tunnel. Siege is probably the best price performing skill in the game, bringing in 12 damage each lvl. And it only costs 100 medals. If he had intercept, he would be a faster and stronger labienus who could also go to work against cities.

Would the ideal commander build for an archer commander be something along the sorts of
Plain or Jungle Fighting Archer Commander (duh) Advantage March/Siege (12 damage per level, plus archers often have to attack city garrisons)
That way you could just give him a gold ring and not worry about him being inadequate. Or a crossbow, and just use oration on him continuously.
The reason I did not add besiege or accuracy is because 1) they add only 4 damage, as opposed to 5 for the infantry counterparts. So they lose 20% of their strength, on top of the archers themselves taking a 25% debuff to damage. 2) you want archers to be better at killing stronger opponents like Crassus.

Teach me how to post my general's picture Switch to desktop mod, go to the post, go on reply, and then use the image link to post it. It takes a bit of getting used to, but its pretty simple.

Mr all‐round fighting runner Wow, thats actually really good. + 20 damage when attacking, + 80 damage when attacking cities, + 45 damage when attacked, and 4 hex mobility in conquest. Combined with the + 40 damage from ability, and the aura multiplier, you have a very strong general! Shame that the commanders skills had to be sacrificed tho

Pretty good general honestly. All you have to do is give him a gold ring and you don’t have to babysit him.

Plain fighting is the best terrain bonus but 210 medals for 4 damage? Really? For jungle fighting, for 90 medals you get 5 damage. So I fear jungle fighting was the right choice, or no terrain bonus for that matter

I agree, thats what made me put plain. But I am going to have to keep it at lvl 2 due to the insane price of each scroll.

An archer commander with siege, march, advantage and archer commander. Siege makes it so you can destroy cities quickly, thus even tho you have less damage against units in a siege, they won't be protected by the city. March for mobility, advantage for crits, and archer commander to hit again.
A cavalry commander with guerilla, cavalry commander, skill for cavalry that increases crit when high morale, and siege. Cities won't survive, enemy units won't survive. A slightly better version of Hannibal once skills are maxed.
Crompey, but with shield wall and counterattack instead of plain fighting and tunnel. Survive forever, hits cities hard, does decently against all units, hit back hard against infantry and cavalry. Counterattack for a siege focused build.

But advantage type skills are pretty hard to use, considering you need max morale to use them. Plus they don’t trigger against cities. I like the idea though. As for the crompey with shield wall and counterattack, I don’t think that sacrificing tunnel and a terrain bonus is not worth the trade off. Shield wall is good, but most of the time it will not be active will save you not that much hp (since you are attack cities that don’t fight back), while plain fighting gives you a bonus that is active all the time, regardless of the situation. It also makes the commander good at fighting other units, and only adds to his damage against cities. I can see how both would be good additions though.

Crompey with hide and Shield wall would be great too. Normal archers can't touch him. Imagine dealing 10 damage to Crompey.
