Hitler had the best mind of them (Battle of France, Barbarossa), and a flair for originality, and although somewhat lacking in strategic and tactical sense, he was brilliant through the eyes of an infantryman.

Neville Chamberlain, he saved Britain because in 1937-38, it and especially its mainland ally would have been caught off-guard.

I wanted to include philip petain, donitz, badoglio and other leaders but I was taking too long and in the end the votes were going to be very divided

He was a genius initially, until power corrupted his mind and he didn't challenge his own views. Taking Austria and Czechoslovakia was amazing. Conquering a major power (France) in 6 weeks I think, was brilliant.

He expaneded his navy, army, created his air force, conquered Rhine in the face of France, took Austria and Czechoslovakia without a shot being fired. That you is not an easy thing.

He didn't expanded his army openly, he only disclosed it when he felt he was powerful enough politically and militarily. Demilitarising Rhineland became possible because allies were neither seeing him as a threat nor wanted a war. Britain openly supported Anschluss. Treaty of Versailles was neither broken in a day nor in any single person's leadership.
