In addition to this, at the start of the conquest Suebi have only one weak enemy. Thuringia has a poor economy, is overpopulated and has worse diplomatic bonuses (+2 with enemies, while Suebian kingdom has +2 with neutral countries), imo. Perhaps, it is possible to overcome these difficulties, but, as nikomachos pointed out, you don't want to "overcome" anything when you farm Thuringia is poor at begin but very rich in late game (they have 2 resources buffs). Need to keep neutral with only 2 - 3 sides (2 byzantines - must, and Suebian - optional, leave war then make allied again in late game). You can make allied from -100 pts enemies within about 3 - 4 turns after turn 15th when going with Thuringia.

Suebi also have 2 resources buffs Besides, they also have 20% discount for hiring Infantry (not a minor deal, I should say). Perhaps it is a matter of taste and time spent on this or that particular conquest. I started to play with Suebi and have found it extremely easy and straightforward. So, I simply don't see any good reason to change the nation. 6 compasses are not a big deal, I think. We usually have plenty of them as rewards and and they are always available for purchase. Maybe I am wrong but I am still suspicious that you have actually to "play" with Thuringia, while it is enough to "manage" the conquest with Suebi.

I didn't spend medals for about half of year except for buying generals. I really played it, just expand then ally the remain after Mauri appears, always finish before 30th turn).

You have all possible privileges from IAP. It is totally different story for challenge conquests. Don't compare.

I understand, but what is possible for You (for good start) with Thuringia is not possible for f2p... that's what I mean.

I dont think anybody wants to invalidate full Iap tactics. The game and forum would be poorer if we ignored all additional options and shifts in tactics that come with paying. I merely critiqued the broader statement that all player who are endgame farming stages have the same priorities.

It's paradoxical that you defend the point of view of f2p players while offering them a more expensive option. F2p players have 100 more important things to spend medals and coins on, before buying compasses. Thurungia is actually easy to play with f2p players too because Frankia is quite weak and you can quickly take their cities, and on the right are small countries that you can quickly destroy, after that comes Byzantium, but it doesn't spam a lot of units, you can quickly take their cities.

Very strange discussion. As I understand stoic is taking about auto conquests at some point after start, while his opponents are talking about full control 😁

Teach me master. How can you finish the 80 points challenge conquest fast?

I'm still not sure if I need to go down the challenge conquest farming path or if getting materials from territory shop/daily missions can save me the hassle.
Right now, my impression is that chain mail is mostly needed to get past some rarely used units (exceptions: varangians, MR, (IBC, MA)) and the true pain comes when going for advanced charge and melee cav units which require plate armor. Even though we get 2 free ones per day that is slow progress; and I'm not even talking about getting the necessary fragments.
In order to plan my upgrade material spending, I'm collecting data on costs and try to evaluate (with stats and opinions from this thread) whether it's worth to unlock certain troop talents or weapon upgrades.
Here's a first draft, I'll appreciate all the help in filling in the gaps
edit: I should add a column for 3 priorities: not recommended / just for passing through / recommended

Very strange discussion. As I understand stoic is taking about auto conquests at some point after start, while his opponents are talking about full control 😁 You misunderstand, as usual. The discussion is about which country is best for farming Chain Armor, Austria, Thuringia or Suebian, and Auto-Conquest is an argument that stoic used as an advantage in favor of the Suebian Kingdom. But the way he talked about that Auto-Conquest can be applied to any country, it is enough to expand your country to a third of the map, and throw out your strongest Generals who should be equipped with Tent LV1, it is not a science and that argument cannot it is in favor of the Suebian Kingdom, because it can also be with Thuringia, you just need to know how. The question is after which turn does Auto-Conquest with Suebian Kingdom start?

Auto in RoB may lead to the pain, Avar. Manual play takes about 30 - 45 mins which less than 30 turns.
