This board is almost dead for quite a long time and there are reasons why. First of all EW7 is awfully a long game. You need literally years to unlock weapons of Hunyadi or Michael. It is extremely difficult to maintain your enthusiasm as long as that. Secondly, some content of the game seems to be impossible for f2p players. Yet, I am curious about some new features (including formations) and how long does it take to unlock them. So, I decided to start from scratch and to walk this path once again. I am aware that few people actually care and probably there isn't anyone who will monitor my progress, but I will do it anyway because it seems to be a worthy challenge to face.

So, my most important task right now is to get my first general. Usually I advise to get generals who have personal weapons and chapters, but this time I will act against this rule. My intention is to purchase Lancelot. It is not entirely clear whether Lancelot has a place in the end game team. But Lancelot is one of the best generals for conquests and conquests are a big part of a new player's progress. I am planning to make a hybrid out of of Lancelot. He is a jack of all trades and though lacking in depth, his multiple attacks make him very useful at times.

It's a wow to hear that someone trying to start from scratch, you should have a great determination tp do that. I had a second cellphone and thought about that months ago, but the thought of doing it again, sign in everyday to get daily bonus... so, I keep on with my current account. Good luck, and that should be a great achievement.

Good luck, and that should be a great achievement. It was not an easy decision to make It was very tempting to start where I left, skipping thus all early game content. But on the other hand I have lost touch with EW7, so a fresh start makes sense from this perspective. I am just curious about the progress of a new player. It took me a year and a half to unlock Subutai's weapon, but now when we have an access to challenge conquests I think I can shorten this distance by half or so. So, it is interesting to test it out with some previous experience of the game behind my shoulders.

Day 1 And my first general purchased for medals (luckily a new player receives around 2500 medals as mailbox gifts). I think about giving him one melee cavalry and two units of Archers. Lancelot should be good enough for completing early campaigns and conquests

I would consider upgrading Belidsrius and Narsus Bond aswel as Justinian and Theodora Bond in the begining because on higher levels they Are pretty good, especialy in early Game campaings and conquests.

We all know this game is an endless grind, we still don't know what the last level of a unit is, and the fifth skill for many units. It will be interesting to follow your progress, how long it will take you to complete the Normal Campaign, how long for the Hard Campaign, and of course how long for the Nightmare Campaign.

I wish you luck on this sojourn, I don't have the patience to grind this game at all and so I've pretty much stagnated. It starts out extremely smooth sailing but it slows down considerably. But if anyone can do it, it's you! Maybe you'll encourage me to pick up this game once again like how you motivated me to get into WC4.
Good luck once again!

I am actually planning to complete all available f2p bonds, but, of course, Justinian/Theodora is a top priority.

That is the most exciting part. It always was rather difficult to tell with precision what chances new players have in EW7. Is it possible at all to survive and to reach a competitive level after several months of playing with all these 300k+ teams around? I think they won't abandon EW7 in the near future because we have plenty of new stuff. And it always was my question: what do we need the endless grinding for? And now I have an answer. Nightmare campaigns and famous dynasties are indeed a post-endgame content and it is still remains open whether it is completable with a f2p team at all. Quite a challenge

One big difference between a start of the game several years ago and now is that it is possible to get one of the most flexible f2p generals immidietly after starting the game. I am talking about Murad II. It is a bit tricky to complete Ottoman conquest without Justinian and virtually without siege equipment, but it is still achievable without too much efforts put into it. It is even easier than getting Darlan in WC4, because only one conquest is needed and this is on normal difficulty. So, Murad is on board

Some free (or purchased for coins) generals are worth of investing. Such names as Theodora, Antonia, Adil don't need an introduction. But beside these well-known names there are some rarely used. First of all bronze tier archers like Gelimer, Stilicho or Lupinicus. Sure, their main use is in conquests (and sometimes in Expeditions) but they do their job fine. I am planning to use all of them mostly with a cheap "Woad Raiders/Ravenna crossbowmen" combination to keep my budget intact.

Great choice. We get unique equipment like Saladin and Arthur's early on.
I presume that you picked the Ottoman Empire as it is the only 3* power that does not require compasses. Or did you choose someone like Wallachia who received a relationship overhaul with Vlad III's ascension?
For Conquest, have you looked at Thomas Stanley? A player without Justinian may need money and a gen who consumes less when recruiting. Plus, he can be equipped with a gear early or soon after another has been equipped. In terms of dmg and survivability, not much else besides his last passive.

Or did you choose someone like Wallachia who received a relationship overhaul with Vlad III's ascension? I picked Ottomans exactly because of Murad. He is one of the rewards for achieving hegemony as Ottoman Empire. I didn't know that Wallachia has an access to this title as well... Anyway, Ottomans have the best economy.
