OOC: I don't think it is major, its just a small sea skirmish with a vessel A clipper of the French navy. I personally wouldn't consider that a minor event. The Minerve sails a smooth course for now, without any major encounters. Lt. de Cabert assumes Captain Bouvet's duties for two days while the latter is ill, but little else happens. We also capture an English merchant ship. Her crew burns their ship before we can do anything with her.

Some feedback.... Imperial RomeBall , unless you put it as OOC, Bolitho just sent a really weird letter to Burgess, somehow.
In battles, while rolling for the general course of it I'd also recommend you roll for your own contribution (e.g. dueling the captain, efficiency of your battery, climbing up the rigging, etc.), to make it easier for your superiors to recognize your deeds, thus getting you promoted. Edit: on ship-to-ship combat, I'll let you all do some, but roll for spotting.A min roll if you spot anything, and higher for larger ships. I prefer a four roll, but whatever you want. Rolling a bit above the limit won't get you a merchantman. Probably a sloop. Go higher, and bigger ship types open. Frigates or higher cannot be found this way however.

I've only edited 2 posts. I could have foregone the editing statement, but of course in this board it says you edited anyway. BUT NOT WHY!!!!! Semi-OOC: Anyway that is Bolitho's special power. His other special power is getting run over by mail carriages. A power quite unusable in the ocean, and thank God for that.

Diary of Lieutenant of the Royal Navy William Laurence Bolitho. Currently quartered on His Majesties Ship HMS Ceylon.
I live a charmed and cursed life. Multiple times I've been run over by mail carriages, but never sustaining crippling injuries. On the other hand thats how I met my crush, but thats another story ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
Somedays I tell myself the only reason I joined the Royal Navy was to avoid mail carriages. That makes things a little easier. By a little easier I mean hardly at all.
I'll go talk to the doctor, see how things are going down there.

Besides, getting so run over is likely fatal. But not necessarily One of the problems with shore leave is the inevitable meetings with carriages. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Still on the Minerve sailing back to France. I tried talking to the prisoners in the ship but it seems they do not want to talk. All of them were portugese expect one. Matthew Flinders, really interesting fellow I heard he was the first to circumnavigate Australia. The french nav could really use a guy like him. hopefully the prisoners will be dumped off in France soon. Its been a boring time here, still at peace with the British. We may get a few merchant ships here and there but there is no glory in beating these merchant ships.I hope to enter battle with the British and earn true glory. As do I, my friend. I'm sure the time will come when we will engage in glorious battle!

*voiceover* Somewhere, a person writes a letter in heathen english. Why do you send such weird letters to me, English scum? *is actually a Scot serving in the British Navy* Because I can. Actually because of your chosen descriptor. (Will Jean-Philippe find a way to use this mystically begotten info? Tune in next week!)

Upon hearing of the mad letter writer of Scotland, the crew of the SMS Arminius becomes wary of Britain.

January-June 1810
After working hard in the French Navy, Mickael has been assigned to the Astree. His first few months go by without any major issues. The Astree docks in Mauritius for a few weeks, but nothing of note happened there. At one point, the Astree saw a British ship and fired on it, but the British scum escaped before more damage could be inflicted. In other news, Mickael is told that magical letters are somehow being sent to and from another French vessel and some Scottish person...
