So is Mannerheim a better choice than Rundstedt? I am thinking about getting an infantry gen I would say so. He starts off pretty far ahead compared to the other infantry generals that he compares to, those being Yamashita and Rundstedt, and Rundstedt has freakin elastic defense. That when you know a general kind of sucks. However, Yamashita is overall better as he can get both guerrilla and inf leader, where Mannerheim only gets one of the two skills

Rundstendt with guerilla infantry leader and raider would make for a pretty strong infantry general, but not much of a fort cracker. I recommend macarthur with plain urban inf leader and raider. He’ll be able to defend cities pretty well when needed, will be useful on tanks and infantry in other missions, and is the strongest city cracker you can make with an infantry general. Mannerheim is a macarthur lite for half the price tag.

Actually no correction, strongest city cracker is yamashita + plain fighting + explosives. This is an infantry general that is good at one thing only, but he is very good at it

Mannerheim starts out very good but he doesn't have a lot of upgrade potential, so I'd rather get Yamashita or Rundstedt as well

Yamashita so far is doing very well for me. If you can farm the domination battles(took me 2 weeks round about), he’s well worth it

But an infantry general is really unneeded for campaigns or conquests. They are more there if you want to have fun. Imo mannerheim can take off the jungle infantry leader and raider medals off your hands, and his damage will be pretty amazing. He’ll be even better once you consider how cheap he is. Not to mention that when you play with poland australia or hungary, you have a pretty awesome surprise waiting for you.

Does it also count the medal or just the base damage?

It does influence explosives as seen from my screencapture of yamashita doing 700 damage against a fortress

I’m slowly upgrading ing leader, raider and guerilla. He does excellent on really any commando (except maybe the Chinese one?). At this point, I see no reason to sell him for Mannerheim, though I many need Mannerheim for the Hudson Bay exercise if I ever get past Panama Canal...

No you shouldn’t trade yamashita for mannerheim if you already have yamashita. I just think that mannerheim is a much better price performer than yamashita, as I wouldn’t want to dump too many of my hard earned medals on an infantry general

Should have put on a couple of generals with crowd tactics for extra damage boost :)

I find that they do better on crossing terrain than armor and there is something to be said for ANY kind of commando with someone like the Mann or Yamashita at the helm. Even some small timer like Heinrici sitting on a quad stacked infantry unit can run amok in the backfield of Russia, the middle east and Africa with HUGE success while your other generals are going toe to toe. Infantry aren't to be toe to toe gods like Guderian and the others, after all, right?

After looking at it again, I'm considering selling Rundstedt and getting Mannerheim. Any advice on this?

After looking at it again, I'm considering selling Rundstedt and getting Mannerheim. Any advice on this? My advice is don't sell Rundstedt to get Mannerheim. You can build Rundstedt better with his 2 remaining slots. I don't have any pure inf. gen (using Konev is enough for daily invasion) so i can't give you any advice. But for scenario mode, you can use Rundstedt as your 4th tank gen to inject rumor or defend city while he can support with the air attack. He has quite good stars in armor and air.
