Oh thanks guys just thought of him being on a carrier as well, any thoughts for that scenario? Camouflage seems better I think so. But is it really worth spending like a couple hundred medals on camoflauge? I mean even at lvl 5 it is only 30%. I don’t know, it really is a tricky question. I think plain fighting would make him deal nice damage on land since his stars aren’t exactly the best.

That's interesting for now airforce skills are airforce leader and carpet bombing, add air ace forces(which is basically your city 10 percent), air raiding chaos(max 50 percent to confuse target for 2 turns) and a last skill to reduce city aerial defence (max: ignore 80% of city aerial defenses) Definitely. Considering how important air force was during ww2 it is embarassing to see it be so bad Air plane must be a unit that can produce from airport and can't move too far from your nearest city has airport or nearest Carrier (the range depend on the grade of plane and can be buffed with the skill of air gens), can attack 1 time per turn but doesn't get retaliation from Inf and Tank, get retaliation from Artillery and Navy with 50% (can increase this percentage with skill or upgrade). That way makes Airforce and Air gens more real (more powerful or be nerf depend on how you use it and it's really weird that the general of the most mobile unit in war just stand in a city for almost time).

Plain fighting actually works in cities as well, so I can tell you right off the bat to not get city fighting. Crowd tactics could also be a decent one if you are a fan of that skill.

I think he is actually better than Yamamoto as an air general. This may be because I don’t really understand how Air in this game works, but Arnold seems to have more useful skills than Yama and most importantly, being cheaper. Rumor is a better skill than Explosives, and it’s weird for a naval general with 5 stars like Yamamoto not have not even 1 naval-specific skill. Arnold can be given 1 more useful skill and be a pure air general who can easily defend himself with level 4 Rumor anywhere, while Yamamoto must be given at least 2 more skills who are naval-based otherwise those 5 navy stars will go to waste. Thus, he won’t be as effective as an air general compared to Arnold, and not as effective as a naval general compared to Kuznetsov (I don’t think Donitz is worth it compared to Kuznetsov, and Nimitz is similar to Yamamoto, being more focused towards navy instead.). Maybe this is my imagination, but as someone who wants a general who is fully-focused towards one category, it seems for me that Arnold is better than Yamamoto in comparison to air. As a main general, of course. I’m likely going to incorporate Nimitz and Yama later as “secondary generals”.

He will be an expensive middle-ground who will never be able to use his full potential as either air or navy due to being a hybrid. I just figured this out, so you can eliminate Yamamoto from the “dream team” I stated in the Yamashita discussion. This is the reason why I don’t like hybrids. Due to them being a middle-ground between two types of categories, they will never achieve their potential full-power on one category, instead needing to remain stable in two. I respect people who use hybrids, tho. Rundstedt's 5 Air stars don't make him an Air general Yamamoto is a hybrid, but I would say Artillery/Air hybrid. Yamamoto has: 1. 4/6 stars respectively. 2. Two necessary Air skills. 3. 3 potentially useful skills for an Artillery general. My guess Explosives/Rumor/Crowd tactics or Explosives/Rumor/Artillery leader are possible for Yamamoto. That makes him and Arnold equal as Air Generals, but Yamamoto is better as Artillery general. His price is high indeed, though. Yamamoto can achieve his full potential as Air general. Usually air strikes and missiles are twice as effective when launched by one, and can be a decent supportive Artillery general. But, though his talents are considerable, you won't hire him until late in the game, simply because you can hire better generals for the same price. Arnold is a way cheaper and I completed the game with him, but eventually I would replace him by Yamamoto, if I wanted to challenge some records, for example...

But Rundstedt's other 3 stars must be BOUGHT. I would never do that since I would use him as infantry. Besides, I don’t have plans of using Yamamoto as a secondary artillery general coupled with air. I would use Leeb instead. I am fully aware that you are someone who likes using hybrids, which I respect, since hybrids are versatile, but I am someone who prefers using a general focused on a certain role. I bet you achieved various victories using the most amazing of combinations. 😁

Yet, sometimes having an Air general is not a bad idea. Especially when towards the end of Modern war missions the player has enough resources to launch a couple of missiles, or in some conquests. And between all Air generals Yamamoto is the most talented . Unfortunately, Air skills are not game-winning skills, so, indeed, other priorities are far more important.

I advocate for arnold being better than yamamoto 1) same skills, same cost 2) Arnold is way cheaper 3) Extreme rumor

Yep. Most gold gens are better than silver gens, but in this case Arnold has a much higher cost-effectiveness than Yamamoto. I think Mannerheim and him are the only silver gens that are worth replacing a gold gen.

Although I’ve read the posts before I became active again, I can’t seem to find a good quaternary skill for Arnold. Maybe plain fighting?

Makes sense... Arnold is not built to fight, but to support, so you will want to keep him alive as long as possible.
