If you buy Washington, you might as well restart imo. I feel like anything he does, others do better. As in Karl and Massena? 😁 Suvorov too. Maybe even Lannes as well.

IMO you’re better off getting Bolivar or Garibaldi, not to say Massena.

I need an infantryman to do three things: siege, fight, and survive. He sieges better than Massena, he fights better than Massena (but not Karl), and he has slightly better survivability than Karl. Garibaldi can't fight nearly as well as Bismarck and has worse survivability, Bolivar is (no offense) just pretty bad imo. His biggest competitor is Lannes, and that's why he looks like such a bad deal, but Bismarck is still better than Lannes because Lannes trades his survivability for the ability to hit cavalry, which is less useful to me.

Well, if you’re willing to spend the biggest amount of medals necessary to buy a general, be my guest. People actually think the opposite, that Bismarck is an overrated general. He’s like Yamamoto in WC4. Among the best in the game, but with an enormous price, and with what many people considere better and cheaper alternatives around, he’s not viewed as someone desirable. But I like seeing people taking different paths. EW6 is a game with many good generals that you can choose to use and that won’t disappoint you. And don’t worry about Bolivar. Even though he’s a hero for my nation, I’m not biased about him.

Valid points in favor of bismarck. If you only have 1 infantry general, him or lannes are the best options. I do like lannes a bit more as intercept is a great skill to have on infantry and he is 840 medals. Since you only have 1 infantry general, a cheap one who can do everything is a good investment if you give him a tent and a ferguson. But bismarck does have more ability and ambush to top it off. I think we should respect kevin’s choice. He ain’t wrong. However, if you are going the karl massena route, best buy is barclay afterwards

I agree with the Massena point. Massena is slightly better early on. But later in the game, as Karl has numerous advantages over Massena so you will need him as well. Unlike Massena, Karl is a tank, sort of a bullet sponge. He has better defense and output than Massena due to his emperor rank, his ambush skill (the guerilla of ew6, but works when defending as well), Jungle Fighting, intercept. In terms of actual output, I have seen this guy throw some of the highest amounts of damage in the game, upwards to almost 400 damage. It doesn’t happen often, but it happens reasonably. Yeah, don’t use blucher to attack this guy Karl is my next target general, since I dumped Massena yet again, and only have the Duke for infrantry. Why? you might ask,I wanted Nelson to accompany Sakurako for Crimean war.and grinding conquests, I truly believe Karl is better than Massena for the end run. I’m not far from being able to buy Karl. Gonna farm. Yes, it will take a little while, but I’m going to feel better because I’ve bought the more expensive of the two and thus buying Massena won’t take as long than buying Karl.

Is Lan good? Because ney seems better. I think Ney seems to be the equivalent of washington or suvorov on cavarly. Although Ney and Lan are simular in some aspects, lan can reach emporess and Ney only king, also she has "surprise attack" which makes her hit hard from a distance. silvercreek , since you’re someone that highly favors Emperor generals (When the General is great, of course), I’m surprised that you didn’t buy Mahmud II instead of John since Mahmud can reach Emperor and John can’t.

Friedrich “Fried Rice” Paulus , you know that I don't have a particularily high opinion on infantry, but I think we came to the conclusion that infantry is good for two things: defending and guerilla warfare, and sieging. defending cities is probably not worth spending a general slot for, but good sieging ability is actually quite handy to have when speedrunning. So here's what I propose: Take Massena, drop Karl. Why? well, the thing is, Karl is geared to FIGHT. He can fight like no one else on infantry, especially when facing cavalry. The problem is that infantry itself isn't geared to fight, they're geared to siege and defend. And inf vs cav is still usually bad news. I still wouldn't face Blucher or Murat with Karl. On the other hand Massena is geared to siege and since infantry is good at sieging he's fantastic at it. Instead you could probably trade Karl for another cavalry general that's also geared to fight but has a unit type that complements that. I'll admit that I use Karl when I have a free infantry unit and don't need to siege, but I could be using Massena for that too. Hell, I'm also thinking that Bismarck might be better than Massena even. I don't benefit all that much from the aura since I don't spawn a lot of infantry near Massena. Bismarck can also fight better than Massena when he's alone because of PF and he is the best infantry sieger in the game. Unfortunately he's pretty pricey. 5 Stars still for fighting well on infantry. “Valid opinions but i am going to have to disagree. I recommend Washington over bismarck at the very least. Formation master + emperor makes washington the prefered alternative to bismarck.” “You need two infantry generals at least to take advantage of the ferguson and beck rifle. Imo, below two infantry generals is a bad idea overall as there are often many good starting infantry available. Karl and Massena with Army tents will be a strong team if used right and handle an entire front by themselves. It is also important to take into account that you can always spawn infantry from any city. Imo at least two are needed. If you buy massena, karl is simply the next best choice. He will have washington’s assualt and on top of have intercept making him even better.” “As for the facing karl/murat question, that will be a very rare occassion. I would always use my karl to go after murat whenever possible. That is after all what karl is made up of. After so and so rounds, my momey is on karl winning due to his ambush and formation master. Fighting blucher is another matter entirely. As one of blucher’s strong points is counterattack, the best way to beat him is to make sure that skill is not in use. By spamming line infantry’s to defend cities, even blucher is not a very strong opponent as seen by quickly him and wellesley die in 1815. “ “Feel free to play however you like. However, buying infantry for sieging is a waste of medals imo. You want somebody good at sieging? Get yourself an artillery general. The best way to use infantry is in defending cities and as well surrounding and attacking other units. Lastly, I personally found the light cavarly to be a bad unit due to its lack of hp. Line infantry overall are better units imo. The cheapest good spammable cavarly unit are the lancers, which cost 1.5 times as much as line infantry” It’s not a matter of wasting items. There are various challenges where cavalry generals are banned, and thus you have to resort to Infantry. But how are you going to complete the challenge if you have little to no Infantry generals?

Strange output. Karl is to be used in forests. As well as Massena will be worse against Cav, Karl will be worse without terrain. He can't has lower output in forest. We compared Karl and Massena. You can check it in the thread I linked. Of course if You use Your gen in a wrong way even great gen can be awful I did check it out. No point in really arguing tbh. I say get Masséna first, simply cuz of the price. My problem with intercept is that, even though it is a good skill, it just isn’t assualt. You will probably use infantry to attack other units a lot more often. I use my infantry to overpower enemy artillery generals such as Kutuzov and Napoleon all the time. Neither is a bad choice though. He is the best forrest fighter in the game after all. Agree. It’s a better idea to get Masséna first because he is easier to use and cheaper.
