No significant change to the main squad.
John is now indisputably a top artillery.
You would want 2-3 admirals now instead of 1-2 in the previous version.
Garibaldi is a decent option only if you have his unique weapon.
Robert, Berthier, Fatimah, and Katrine can now join Suvorov as hybrid options. But since temples are much more important now, I don't recommend drafting Fatimah.
If we see more elite ships without Bombardment (like Victory and Vengeance) in later naval battles, Victoria will be at least the third admiral.
Future (according to the current leak):
We don't know if any of the following generals will have their items being IAP. I'll assume they're all F2P for now.
Hood will be the second admiral.
Kutuzov will be a top artillery.
2. I have chosen Maria as my fourth artillery pre-update. Should I give John the Crown Medal? Currently Karl has it but since artillery is buffed, I am thinking of changing hands of Crown Medal. Should I also give John the Artillery Telescope instead of letting Mahmud II have it? Should Artillery Expert generals (Mahmud II, Alexander I) only be support now? Since we can now choose between deploying a princess in the battlefield or in the city, should I hire Sophia since she looks like John without Mountain Fighting?
3. Kutuzov became the WC3 Govorov of EW6: 1804. Maybe instead of Sophia, I hire him?
2. John now deserves everything you give to make him your main artillery general. He won't disappoint. At least in this version, Alex can still be a main artillery general (or you can use Maria and make Alex a support). Mahmud's main duty should be support now. I still won't draft Sophia just in case I need her in the palace, but you're free to do that if you want to.
3. That depends on whether ET will put Kutuzov's unique weapon behind the paywall, which they clearly have incentive to do. If his unique weapon is IAP, then he'll still have to compete with Sophia, Maria, and Scharnhorst.
Update: you can now put a princess in the palace and on the battlefield simultaneously! I retract my comment on not recommending Fatimah. Scharnhorst is a goner. If Kutuzov's unique weapon is IAP then I don't think he can compete with Sophia and Maria.
