Counterattack, Inspiration, Formation Master, Assault. Pretty tolerable to use for a while until some more textbooks are obtained. Than give him plain fighting instead of either inspiration or counterattack. He’ll be like a suvorov lite. Just saying if medals are an issue. That way you can use your medals on a good artillery general early on like hindenberg I mean, yeah, you could do that. Not really the best use of your textbooks at the start though since Stonewall Jackson exists. That’s also like 15 books to almost match Nicholas I. If you can afford to spend 15 books on one general you should probably be at European Powder Keg already. Agreed. That would mean a lot of wasted textbooks. Which is why I do think robert e lee is not that great of a pickup. I mean doug haig has not one bad skill when you purchase him. Borevic also has 4 acceptable skills. Robert E Lee is a textbook dump to me personally.

The one thing that Haig has going for him is that he’s 130 medals cheaper at the start. Not that that matters much unless you REALLY want an infantry general fast, which you shouldn’t.

He served me well as a secondary inf.gen.

Turns out, Grant was average enough to be able to help me clear out all the normal difficulty Campaigns as a 2nd inf gen.

He may have horrible skills but he is max prince rank and purple tier. He is like gates on steroids. If you use 5 textbooks on him and give him infantry master, you won’t need another infantry for a very long time. That way, you can use your hard earned medals on hotzendorf, ivanov, hindenberg, johnston, and beatty

Philip Sheridan and Stonewall Jackson does all the work in the early game.

To make the American Civil War missions somewhat less torturous, one could save 30 skill books and replace all of Grant’s skills with the exception of Inspiration, then give him the Inspiration medal. However this isn’t recommended as using Ambrose Burnside is generally agreed to be a better idea. Then again, those that aren’t strictly F2P could buy one of those offers that give you 25 skill books, then save 5 books (Not too difficult of a task) and do the thing.

Priorities for textbooks 1. Riding Master to Precision Strike for Stonewall Jackson 2. Battle Array to Assault for Ulysses S. Grant 3. Station to Surprise Attack for Stonewall Jackson 4. Counterattack to Jungle Fighting for Helmuth von Moltke
